Each show will be (re)listened to (as applicable), or I will use a personal review I have already completed, to ascertain the score.

There are no point deductions, only point scoring.

Maximum score for any show will be the "Perfect 10".
The point earning potential is broken down as follows.
1-5 = Energy/Cohension
0.25 = 3rd Set Bonus
1.25 = Meat Sequence Variety
1 = Meat Sequence Quality
0.5 = Theme/Set List Oddity
1.75 = Extended Jams
0.25 = Song Sandwich

1-5 Points = Energy/Cohension
Each set will receive 1-5 points, and the average between the sets will be used to finalize the points earned here.
*Example, 3 set show, where the sets get the following scores:
1st = 3, 2nd = 5, 3rd = 4, for a total of 12 points, divided by 3, equals a rating of 4 points.
*This category is the most subjective of the categories, and will also be fairly liberal in the scoring. Receiving less than a 3 is pretty much not going to happen.

0.25 Point Potential for being a 3 Set ShowIdeally, we want them to play as long as possible, right?
*Sometimes, when they do, some sets will suffer, due to the inevitable fatigue and law of diminishing returns.
*To counter this, and recognize we want a longer show, an automatic 0.25 points goes to any show with 3 sets.
*Seastones/Phil & Ned does not count as a set, unless it goes into other songs.

Meat has a potential 2.25 Points Total
Meat is defined by the sequence(s) of songs where we get to the core of what most look for in the Grateful Dead. This is generally going to be defined as up to two sequences, from either set, but typically in the 2nd.

1.25 Point Potential for Meat Sequence Variety
This is based purely on segues/transitions within the "Meat of the Show", which is typically found in the 2nd set.
*The more unique songs we get to, the higher potential rating.
*Drums do not count as a song.
*Sandwich songs only count as one song.
*Only stand alone (or 1) songs = 0.25, 2-3 song sequence = 0.5, 4 songs = 0.75, 5 songs = 1, and 6+ songs = 1.25

1 Point Potential for Quality of the Meat Sequence
If you have five pieces of chicken, and 3 are rotten, you don't really have a great meal. This is another area of subjective rating limited only the songs within the meat sequence.

0.5 Possible Points for Themes/Set List Oddities
Jams, breakouts, effective guest stars, double encores, other unique aspects. The points are awarded as follows:
*1st instance = 0.25 points
*2nd instance = 0.4 points
*3rd instance = 0.5 points

1.75 Possible Points for Extended Jams
Another area we come for, because a stand alone PITB must be recognized!
*These bonuses do stack if they come from within the meat sequences
*This is typically defined as any song that has over 8 minutes of wordless jamming, and it can be separated by verses (TOO, Bird Song, Eyes all come to mind).
*1st instance = 1 full point
*2nd instance = 1.5 points
*3rd instance = 1.75 points

0.25 Potential Points for a Song Sandwich
This is defined by returning, at least in the instrumental theme, to a song after having originally left it and gone into another song.
*NFA sandwiches, due to frequency, particularly in 1972 where nearly every show featured one, earns 0.1 points
*All other song sandwiches earn 0.25 points
*These songs can be part of the meat sequence as well
