If you could go back to see any show in this time period... the primal dead... forming into the monster it became...
WHICH show would you choose? |

Probably one of those April 69 shows at the Avalon or the Ark. 4/5, 4/21 or 4/23. |

Funny you use that term. I actually thought my head was going to explode one night... way intense paper that night. We ended up putting on some records and just leaving one candle going... it was really cool, but every time I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, I swore my head was swollen... really swollen... my jaw was locking all night too...
Anyhow, back to the thread...
I think I would go see 11/8/69 personally.

This show was epic. Also that Dicks Pick was one of the better ones. 11/1/69 is also a contender though.
11/1/69 - Saturday
One [59:43 +] [0:09] ; Morning Dew [11:00] ; [0:13] ; Dire Wolf [8:13] > Cold Rain And Snow [5:23] ; [1:18] ; Hard To Handle [6:15] ; [0:16] ; Mama Tried [2:44] > High Time 8:03] ; [0:05] % Good Lovin' [2:05] > Drums [3:42] > Good Lovin' [4:35] ; Easy Wind [4:#49] ; [0:50] %
Two [59:27 +] [0:09] ; He Was A Friend Of Mine [14:25] > China Cat Sunflower [3:01] > Jam [1:12] > I Know You Rider [4:03] > Casey Jones [4:37] % [0:14] ; Alligator [3:49] > Drums [0:11] > Jam [11:19] > And We Bid You Good Night Jam [1:33] > Uncle John's Band Jam [1:58] > Turn On Your Turn On Your Love Light [12:06] ; [0:35] %
Comments Total time [1:59:10 +]. Jerry introduces Dire Wolf with "This is a song about the wolf's at the door and what you do when the wolf comes to the door." After singing the tune through once he says "It's an easy song, you can all sing along really easy man, super easy -- fun" and proceeds to sing the lyric through a second time. There is a cut in Easy Wind at 0:53 with several minutes missing. |

I like this show too, but... I feel that 11/8/69 blows it away Dude, execution wise. Both have these awesome setlists, but 69 is king of November the 8th... that and 85 of course. |

I like the whacky song choices like New Orleans, My Babe...I have never listened to 11/8/69.... I never bought the DP and its not on archive is it?? Looks killer.
Also I almost chose 9/20/70. Any of those 1970 acoustic electric shows would have been a treat. 5/2, 5/15... _________________ We used to play for acid, now we play for Clive. |

Koch I went back and listened. I'm sticking with 2/29. 11/8 was great but the lift off was a little stronger on 2/29. Great set list for 11/8, very enjoyable show but if I could only pick one then 2/29 it is. |
