It looks like some welcome stuff is getting released. I've long admired that Dark Star from Waterbury Ct but have never been thrilled about the sound quality of whatever version of it that I have.

Right now I'm listening to the 1983 one, Scarlet>Fire. It is one of those unreasonably great 1983 S>Fs...the recording is fine but not great, I favor the Steve Silberman one, which is superior to the SBs, I think (though it could be a tad fast). So if Rhino can pull out a really good sounding version of this that will be fine.

I'd rather have seen Alligator Alley from the day before in 1980, but whatever. I don't really remember much else that's on there but for me the really big deal is the MSG 1987, that has been a beloved recording for me since not long after it happened, and I have never thought that the recordings I have had have been of the sort that couldn't stand improvement.

Of course 700 dollars is out of the question, but once it's out and circulating...who knows? I'm sure I'll at least get to hear a bit of it.

What do you all think?

I'm not really chuffed beyond endurance at the Paris (1990) thing, I'd have more hoped for something from the summer maybe...just about all the Spring has been released, if I'm not mistaken, although I haven't gotten around to checking out most of the releases yet so I could be off the mark. And I don't remember that show from 1977, but isn't there still some May stuff that hasn't been released? Maybe nothing they have good recordings of though, I don't know. In any case in general I'm less of an admirer of April, May and after for the most part is more my speed. I'm sure some here will disagree, and anyway it's not the most educated opinion since, as I said, I can't remember if I've heard the show in question.

I'm not really complaining though, it's a good idea and it looks like they've grabbed up some good stuff, just a few idle quibbles.

I was just referring to the price Rhino is slapping on this release. They are celebrating their 50th anniversary according to the philosophy of Gordon Gekko "Greed is good."

Not sure if the release is called 30 hard ones-that would be a bit odd. In celebration of G.D. 50th--Rhino is releasing 30 complete shows one show for each year the band existed---65>95. They are charging 700 bucks for this.

What is it called?

For what it is worth, this is the first official release from 1984!
