Thanks to Hannigan for this...

If you use Chrome as your browser, check out the extension "Grateful Grabber". Makes grabbing stuff from the archive simple, in a zip or individual files.

This apparently works for soundboards too!

Thanks for spreading the word. I've been missing the ability to grab SBD and MTX files from IA more and more as the months have rolled by.

Outstanding! Unless you really "need" shows in lossless format, this is going to make you (all) and me very happy! Thanks for sharing.

I can not thank the Captain enough for cluing me in. I even downloaded Chrome.

I am nearly caught up on the boards missed since the madness. Wish we could select all the individual tracks and do sequential instead of simultaneous downloads. I don't like to use the zip files b/c I think you lose some quality by compressing.

Glasses clinkin' ALL over the pub.

I have never used it before, but this is awesome. I also imagine you can use this on any streaming site.

You and me both! Have you kept up with the updates? I haven't, but it's easy enough to deduce based on my last downloads which happened right around the time the downloading via the back door went down.

Also, the good thing about this, it's not a "back door" run by the Archive... so the factions representing the music cannot shut it.

Unfortunately for me, the download fails and the page crashes every time the download tries to go from 99% complete to 100%. Just happened 12 times on the trot.

Yea, it's in your firewall. Same thing happened to me so I just downloaded the individual songs tab just below and it worked fine. You just need to go to your download folder and transfer them to the folder you want.

Correction on my earlier statement, it is only useful for GD at the Archive, which is just fine.

Also, I have been using individual download too, rather than zip. It takes longer, and is more of a pain in the ass, but compression results in further data loss that I don't want to voluntarily accept.

Of note: Also check out that MANY 'official release' shows now have the streaming (ahem, and other) option(s) restored. So… if you have been missing 12/31/76 or similar in your collection you may wish to investigate. Owning all this stuff myself, I have still found it an irritation that I can not listen to the complete show on AO etc. ad nauseum blah blah blah.

This may help to guide you through the process:

Might also add - this site and the sailors that stumble into it is about the only kind of [CENSORED] that keeps the internet interesting. Large feather in your cap Cap.

It were Crewman Chingsinkly who found this chest of treasure!

And, I figured eventually someone would find a way around it... and eventually the IA may block this way too. Depends on how much time and energy they care to spend on it, which I am going to guess is not much.

So, until someone blabs about it, repeatedly, in places like IA, where the admins cannot ignore it if Rhino's lawyers contact them, have at it!

This is great! I am entering another Dead phase after a few years off so I'll try to come around here again from time to time...anyway, thanks for the tip, Koch.

Ironically, I've been in a prolonged hiatus!
