There has been buzz about this, and I throw this out to the Crackman to pick a show and time. Friday will be late before I can jump in due to plans earlier in evening, but I am potentially free Saturday for an earlier start if that is better. Otherwise go ahead and start Friday around normal time and I will jump in during show....

Anyone else have scheduling issues ?

Earlier Sat would be better than later Fri for me personally, but it is Crack's deal.
What is the consensus on complete shows vs. doing a 2nd set? Over my listening lifetime, I usually focus on set II. Interested in thoughts on that. I can certainly see the value in the entire Pkg.

I prefer doing the whole show...
Sometimes, if we start early enough, we do a "hilite reel" session after the show... we take turns picking favs... pretty cool way to get exposed to hidden gems.

I think that sounds like a great idea...you guys tend to burn the midnite oil, and a Highlite Reel would be fun. I hesitate to join in though, due to the constant "99 percent" wallpaper that seems to never go away - due to me. I'll try to assess before then.

It means the chatbox manifesto that get cut and pasted all day and all night long now, doesn't make for a pleasant and cohesive LP. I would love to hang out and enjoy the tunes with you guys.

No Rob, I don't mean that at all. I mean I don't want LPs interrupted because someone wants to stage a written protest to my participation. I would love to celebrate crackstraw's birthday with you guys without rude interruption, from someone who is obsessed with a grudge. If I must, I suppose I could join the party as "anon" so I don't call unwanted attention to the event. Either way, it's getting old.

Bill,

Join in. I think you have more musical experience than any other members that currently participate. I have been ignoring the 99% for years. Works great. Misfit power is what GD runs on. Just ask Bobby.

Rob: Got the highlight thing, but I am still blindsided by it each time. So much to choose from, hard to pick. Looking through filler on tapes would be a great way to get some diamonds out of otherwise underperformer shows.

Hopefully Birthday Boy will let us know what he prefers. Have a great day everybody.

Ah, someone is trolling you...
Well, ignore them?

I know I've liked your LP participation, you've got some awesome first hand experience that really adds to things.

I'm not big on highlights, except for after a full show. Full shows are definitely the way to go for me, not just 2nd Sets.

Crack and I listened to a show last night, and he said that he will probably start Friday evening around 10:45 PM Eastern.

Unlike at other sites, Sailor Pub members are not likely to gang up against someone (like Duck) or take sides in personal disagreements. Why invest time and energy into these "feuds" - which bring no rewards and provide no return on your investment? Makes no sense to me.

Looks like you guys did 4/5/91. Went to that show with among others my friend Charlie, God rest his soul. Charlie was a Deadhead who started his career by doing the LSD tests at the U of Md. back in the 60s. He had been doing it before the official tests, but that is a long other story. One set of Atlanta shows he went through the whole history of that with my wife and I over about 2 Hrs. while gurgling down a half gallon bottle of Jack before the show. That, after totally hustling a poor kid at pool at the hotel bar for the previous 2 Hrs to where he had to go to his girlfriend to borrow money.

Anyway, Charlie weighed 450lbs at the time. 90% of that was muscle. We always liked doing shows with him b/c he eliminated a ton of BS for you in the arena. The thing about big guys like that is, they will often just go to sleep at random. Well, we were 5th row center or thereabouts. We always put Charlie on the end to eliminate a lot of aisle traffic. At the break, Charlie is splayed out in his seat (and mine) snoozing with one of his giant ham arms on my chest & all slumped over. These two cops come stalking down the center aisle and look at Charlie. We try to act like we are not there and don't see them. The young gung-ho one looks at the other one and says, "We gotta get him outta here". The other one says, "Which end you wanna be holdin' when he wakes up?" Then they just walked off.

That was our dear friend Charlie in a nutshell. I am sure he was not God's favorite creation, but he broke the mold with that one for certain. I will come out with more Charlie stories as time goes on, which many will not believe, but they are all true and beyond.

Nice story Hugo,we did not listen to 4/5/91, but the Deal was featured on the synthetic first set.

Instead of listening to a full show we listened to a synthetic first set that was developed within CrackStraw's lab, and looked like this:

Cold Rain and Snow - 10/12/83
Jack Straw - 4/22/78
Althea - 10/27/91
black Thoated Wind - 10/19/74
Row Jimmy - 1/22/78
Looks Like Rain - 12/27/81
Here Comes Sunshine - 2/23/74
The Music Never Stopped - 6/14/91
Deal - 4/5/91

Then we listened to set 2 of 5/31/80, a terrfic show with excellent sound quality that was suggested by Swami....really really good stuff!

Feel Like A Stranger [7:34] ; Ship Of Fools [7:55] ; Lost Sailor [5:56]> Saint Of Circumstance [6:00] > Space [2:52] > Wharf Rat [10:59] > The Other One [8:06] > Drums [8:20] > Space [2:56] > I Need A Miracle [3:52] > Bertha[6:06] > Sugar Magnolia [8:10]

U.S. Blues [5:17] ; Brokedown Palace [6:11]
