I had this one on cassette and have always especially loved the 1st Set. One of the best First Sets of 1990 without a doubt if not the best. 2nd Set is not quite up to the challenge especially given some mammoth 2nd Sets in other shows from that same tour. Having said that nice Terrapin and Morning Dew. Excellent Phil performance.

1st Set is must-listen material.

p.s. Dylan, I don't believe El Paso was played at this show. May wanna double-check that setlist.

Really, Koch is embedding [CENSORED] in your posts? Then why are you posting so much?

This show opened a bit shaky, but it has quickly settled into a nice groove. Thanks for the nice recommendation!

It's weird to think Brent was in such bad shape that he'd be gone in 2 weeks. The band is solid, a bit fast paced, but a solid show. The second set DAT is remarkable for it's sound quality, but it's a bit quick. Brent really asserts himself in the Terrapin. The shows were all sonically there...they never sounded better.
Thanks again for mentioning this one.

Duck, he died of an OD... that means, he could have been completely healthy and got a randomly bad hit that killed him, in case you didn't know. It's not like Jerry's case.

My 1st set is from an inferior source. Set 2 is really clean. Does a nice copy of the 1st set circulate?

We did the summer 90 tour from JFK until the end in Chicago, Foxborro and this show were our favorites!

I understand this show was recently revisited on a Sunday listening party which I failed to attend...
I need to give it another listen.

Any thoughts from those who recently listened to it?

Thought #1: 2nd Set is waaay better than I conveyed in my earlier post in this thread. In fact, awesome. The China/Rider is super intense - one of the better LL Rains to be found - then from Terrapin through Morning Dew is about 1 hour of top-shelf material - just about as great a 1-hour journey as you will find. As much as I love the RFK 7/12, I now hold this show right up there with it.

Thought #2: Paid for a Sunday night drinking LP the next day at work big time.

Thought #3: Nice new AUD source, thanks in part I think to Indica - who was able to stay for the whole show.

Thought #4: While LP participation has been mediocre overall, with 3 or even 2 people an entire show LP can still be time well spent - certainly with shows like this one.

Thought #5: To think that there are still some not clued in to the greatness of this show is sad. It is a classic.

I have seen Looks Like Rain evolve over the 20 year span I did shows. From a middle of the 1st set with Donna & Bob Duet, to it's incarnation as a solo Bob tune, that ended up before the end of the first set. LLR > Deal LLR > Might as Well...etc. But as much or more than any Bob song, Looks Like Rain matured, and I think by 7-18-90 it was a grand song. Set 2 status. Well deserved, and a magnificent piece for this band.

Looks like a bathroom break...
I would have axed it from all shows, along with BIODTL, but that's just me.

LP participation is good when small... too many people and it gets disjointed.
I will try to make it NEXT Friday... Can't this Friday.
