With the holidays over, I think it's time to get these LPs going again. LSP has always been the place, even attracting members of the Axis here for good times and good music.

Let's celebrate the Grateful Dead by actually listening to it together again.

I agree with this!
Maybe this coming weekend?

What times do y'all try to do these?

Might be interested in "attending". Lot of the time I am just listening to GD on Fri & Sat night anyway. Just recently got my i-pod integrated as though it were a tape deck , so can run through the EQ as I did for 2 decades with Naks, which have now all died of logic board failure or whatever it is that all the CRs seem to suffer.

So grateful to have these board sources. I had just downloaded all the best audiences from Archive for all of the 1980s. Required a lot of sampling to find the best ones. Then I find LSP. Education is always so expensive. Rolling Eyes

Keep us posted, and I will try to remember to check back here while downloading continuously for as many days as it takes.

Idea: 4/27/84 Providence. A good show that is rarely discussed. Not the ultimate of all times or anything, but I find it in my rotation. Always get the chills with it. Solid in both sets. Row Jimmy is a real whew.

I'm in for a late evening show this weekend - so Fri or Sat? And I'm certainly down for some Providence '84 (when am I not down for an 84 show?).

I could do Saturday or Sunday, since Monday is a holiday...
Friday I'm obligated to attend a bday party type thing, at a bar, where I don't want to go... the things we do for friends.

Hugo... there is a thread here about "When AUD is the answer", which not only lists good AUDs, but ones where they are the superior version from any source of said show...
It's in the "Searching For The Sound" part of the forum.

Cool. Thanks for that. I printed that list out so I can substitute for inferior boards etc. while downloading.

Personally, I would enjoy it if it was held at LSP and not the Transitive Axis.
Just my 2 cent's worth....

Right here at the Pub is the preferable location for LPs - too bad no-one popped in last night. We are pondering another gathering tomorrow (Sunday) evening - can anyone make it?

I think I'll bow out at this point. Every night is essentially a "Listening Party" here in my house. I think it's best to avoid any further conflict by not adding my 2 cents worth. I really don't have much to add beyond what all of you guys bring to the table. The axis seems to be the best place really, it is vibrant, and enthusiastic. It's fun reading what you all have to say.
Have at it. Have fun.

Just thought I'd add a resource that may help as a backup to LMA for listening parties:

This streaming site claims to have over 2000 GD shows available, as well as a relative handful of other artists. setbreak.com seems to have less buffering problems than LMA, the sound is decent and the time spent between getting the notion and actually listening to the show is less.
Registration is not required to stream, but it is to reach other features and to downloads the shows as podcasts.
On the down side, you do get a gap between songs, like LMA. I was hoping for better, but oh well. Also on the down side, the exact source of the show is not given, although I haven't "joined" the site yet, so perhaps that is one of the added features.

When I used to do LPs, I always listened to the show on my stereo off the lossless cd source. I just hate to listen to GD on the computer.

This new source for streams seems pretty cool. Very handy tool.

I feel the same about listening on the PC, and to that end I've been gathering components to build a "second" stereo system to handle computer audio in a tasty way. Now all I lack is the good soundcard. Really looking forward to that day, gonna see what these danish made "Dynaco" speakers will do. Already the best $5 I've ever spent.

Yes, amping it up a bit from stock computer sound equipment is a total necessity.
I like the interfaces that let you adjust the EQ, and then having good headphones on top of that...

The "Axis" is crap for LPs - here is better once we get the old school crowd back to the table. Cheese and I listened to 6/26/93 RFK tonight, a damn good later-era show. And bullshit you have nothing to bring to the table Duck. The toughest thing to bring to the table is time, since we are all busy. A GD show requires about 3 hours of free time, but usually it is worthwhile - definitely more worthwhile than lurking around and posting in threads such as this one.
