OK, I am sure some know this story, but I will tell it b/c it is funny and you can listen to a show to back it up - not the best quality recording, but some gems mixed in. Just ran across it while downloading.

A friend was telling me after a show one night that Must Have Been the Roses was about a guy who was in love with a corpse - one pane of glass in the window etc. etc. Now this person is a very reliable source, and I did not think he was yanking my chain. This was before I really understood the dark humor of the band to the fullest, and even though it made sense I just had a hard time believing it.

Anyway, Clearinghouse of Coincidences - one night right around that time I am listening to this board I have of Cleveland 11/20/78. Well, plain as day before they go into Roses you can hear Jerry say, "Time for a little necrophilia." Shocked I totally cracked up on that one.

Yeah, I am pretty sure, having read the story, it is... however, I don't think it is totally macabre... I think it is about someone mourning for their recently passed loved one!
