So basically, this week sucked. My mother got kicked in the leg by her horse and it turned into a compound fracture. She had to have emergency surgery because of it, and because of where it happened (in the horse stall, and she was laying in horse waste because she couldn't move). She should be alright but they have to keep her in the hospital because they are so worried about infection and if it gets infected she could lose the leg.

Anyhow, I knew I was going to be there for a while so grabbed one of my iPods. I have a few so that I can listen to shows and they won't fit on just one. I didn't realize it at the time, but I grabbed my newest one with the Winterland 73 disc set on it, and that was all I have uploaded. So I settled in for another long night. If you don't have this set yet, stop reading this post right now and go buy it. The boys are firing on all cylinders, and the sound quality is amazing. I have listened to this from start to finish a few times, but never when I had nothing to do but listen and think. This set is amazing. Anyhow guys that's all I have for now and I hope you all had wonderful thanksgivings.
Peace And b Wild
Mike
PS-once again the boys helped me get through a tough time. :)

I'll say a prayer for your mom. That sounds very scary.

Infection too ... she didn't want to go through surgery in Sicily so she came back by plane ... this made things only worst!

Hey guys
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. She ended up having to have the surgery which was supposed to take 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours and it ended up taking 6. Me and my family sat in the waiting room waiting for what seemed like an eternity and even though I had Winterland 73 to listen to, it was a LONG wait.

She is now home from the hospital, but it is going to be a long recovery. She had a steel rod put in her leg, as well as a steel plate. The bone was broken in not just one place like originally thought, but it was actually broken in two places. I guess that is why the surgery took so long. The Dr. Said it took so long to do the surgery because when he got it there it was much worse than he thought, and he had to clean the bone and a whole bunch of other things.

Right now she ims resting comfortably, but I will pass along all your thoughts and prayers to her. Thank you all again for your prayers and for caring.
Deadheads are the best!!!! We really are like one big family!!!!
Peace And b Wild
Mike

Mike, my wife's heart surgery a few months ago was supposed to be 2-4 hours, and went 6 hours. My daughter's spine surgery went 2 hours longer than they told us it would. I think you should always consider what the estimated time prediction to be very optimistic.

The bottom line: Take all the time you need to get it right.

Best wishes to you and your family for a happy and safe Holiday Season and a great new year as we go forward.

- Bill
