In no particular order.
1. 1981
2. 1974
3. 1983
74 recently ousted 72 in my early 70's listening.

Simply shocking isn't it Wink Of course this is subject to change, especially 72. Top Five would be a little easier.

ok I know the thread says no explanation necessary but it is interesting to me that some people have said 1979 and others have said 1981 but no one has said 1980. I am very fond of 1980 because Brent had just joined the band and everything seemed so new because of it, they played with so much fresh energy. Also I am a sucker for those acoustic sets a la Radio City.

1981 was a great year, it is definitely one of my favorites. It is the year they went to Europe a couple of times, good stuff!

If it's "Top [and only] 3 to bring to the desert island" then it's

1973
1977
1989

If it's "Top 3" [but all the other years are still available to be listened to] then it's

1972
1973
1974

Such awesome shows in all those years, especially 95. Jerry just dominated. I would have to put 92 in place of 86 though. Laughing

Oh dear. I can imagine listening to some shows at your house, getting the munchies, and when we raid your fridge and larder, all we find is stinky tofu, durian, kimchi, sea slug, haggis, French chalk soup, surströmming, hákarl, black salt and asafoetida.

Well, 86 is definitely towards the bottom of the pack, and you can notice Jerry's decline especially towards the summer, but there were some strong shows in the Spring and in December (despite Weir's lyrical lapses) the shows are bursting with energy. Even in 94 (October mostly) there are some good shows, but you can hear that Garcia's guitar work lacks speed and intensity. At least that is what I hear. I personally have trouble listening to ANYTHING from 1995.

The only thing I listen to from 95 at times is So Many Roads from the last show.
