Put any ideas you like here...
I recently fixed the built in censorship of the word "fuck", can't have that censored on a site dedicated to free speech and free music!

Yeah, "Fricktard" lacked gravitas.

Maybe the site needs a thread devoted exclusively to Italian politics...

For those who do not know, the above is not just a cheap shot at showing a nice Italian bottom... Italy has (had?) a female [CENSORED] star in their parliament... we could call it...

And that is apparently her actual derrière. I vote Yes.

I'll see your female [CENSORED] star parliamentarian and raise you a transexual former [CENSORED] worker. Also a female prime minister, female Governor General, female Minister of Police, and female Chief Justice. Read 'em and weep.

Question. If I use the "add image to post" facility, I get a miniature distorted postage stamp size result that has to be clicked on to see what it's like. How do you guys get the big pics up on the site, as is, without distortion?

Instead of using that option, I use photobucket -

to upload an image onto the internet. You can sign up for free. Once you upload a picture, it will then give you an actual internet address for the image. You can highlight the link once it is created, and click on the Img button - there it is. If you click the button and the link is not highlighted, it will just give you one set of brackets at a time. You can manually type [img] before the link and [/img] after it, that works too. Most pictures that are on the internet as image files can be displayed this way by using this function, at least in my experience.

ok folks, so, you may have noticed some new projects going on... I want to encourage this.

if anyone has an idea for something, you let me know, publicly, or privately, as you prefer (I mean, it will eventually go public, right?!) and I will set you up with a forum room or whatever you need to make your idea a reality.

I see cheesebeer has come up with the idea to do a listening party, zephyr an idea to determine the best source for each show, myself the Jefferson Airplane project. Keep the ideas coming, and you will have my whole support!

And, vote for Milly D'Abbraccio, write in candidate (See above from Zephyr), for President 2008 (or shall I say, La Presidentrice!)

The Ultimate synthetic Dead show?

I'm just brainstorming here...what if a long-term project were taken on similar to the top 64 shows, but in this case we'd be building the ultimate couple of sets out of songs from various shows?
I guess first it would be necessary to vote in what songs would make either of the two setlists; then the order for them, and once that was done it would be necessary to do brackets on those individual songs (this would be labor-intensive as it would require many different brackets, one for each song) from various shows until there was a winner. At that point the 'Ultimate' Dead show could be pieced together and we could all have a copy.

There are conspiracy theories that posit that 5.8.77 is an amalgam of best versions of songs from various shows. I, of course, don't buy into that. But we could build one!

These are just initial thoughts. Feel free to tell me if I'm being an over-reaching idiot, or any other thoughts this post may have triggered...

I can dig this idea....... we could all nominate the best 1st set openers, blues songs, cowboy songs, Dylan songs, Bobby ballads, 1st set closers, 2nd set openers, Drums>Space, Jerry ballads, 2nd set closers, encores, and everything in between. It's not over-reaching.... in fact, we've been doing this kind of thing all along. After some voting, we can put all the winners together to create the ultimate fantasy show. With a bit of ingenuity, we can make a seamless show that members can download. How's that for over-reaching?

Outstanding. I don't think I would like to head this up, due to my relative 'newness', but I'd certainly like to be on the committee that works on it.

I am just now seeing this thread.
Swami and I both have ventured into this territory, though it was mainly, for both of us, self-indulgent/created in a vacuum.

If you come up with a solid plan, send me a PM, and then stick with it.
Right now I am a bit upset about something that hasn't really progressed too well, not like it was touted to... but this is minor. I would certainly make whatever assets of the free forum available that I can...
only ground rules are:
1) no money
2) no Donna

Ok, #2 isn't serious, but highly recommended.

If the winning show does not include the Egypt version of "Sunrise" I'm going to rat this site out to Rhino. You Have Been Warned.

My thoughts for the first step in the process would be to vote in how many slots each singer gets. For example we might vote that Jerry gets 10 songs in our synthetic show, Bobby gets 10 songs, Pigpen 2, Phil 2, Brent 1 and Vince 1. Or we may vote in nothing but Jerry and Bobby songs; or any combination in between. I think all would agree that we'd have one space and one drums also voted in. My personal slant would be something like all Jerry and Bobby songs except for two Pigs and one Phil.

From there we would start voting on which songs and where they will go in the set lists. Next step would be voting for the best versions of the songs voted in. And then it's pretty much a done deal.

In IM's respect he did say that he was a school teacher and that he would be narrowing down his forum time due to school schedule. I have seen him on here since the post in question. Also, I greatly appreciate his posts as I see them both reverent and interesting in the thread that he posts in.

Hey Now!
Thanks for the kind words (pun intended). I'm still around. I've been checking in pretty much everyday, but, yeah, my time is much more limited of late. This forum means a lot to me because no one in my immediate physical world gives a flying F about the Dead. I need to keep in touch with folks who get it. I'm sure this resonates with some of you.

So if you guys are amenable to the USDS (ultimate synthetic dead show), could you start a (I'm not sure what you call them....area?, forum?) place like the Top 64
forum, Koch? I'll start running with it.

And if Skobud could do a logo of some sort for it; that would rock.

I caught the Dead at the Tacoma Dome once. I used to live in Portland. Those indoor venues were great for the light shows.

Ok, so it seems the creator of this forum, meaning the software to make it work, has created this cockamamy search function... it is no accident.
It doesn't seem to work... so I am still in talks with forum support.

This will really [CENSORED] if they don't realize the new search function SUCKS.

I am not sure when the migration will be, but it is being worked on now I believe.
