One-hundred-and-fifty years ago, Americans went to war with themselves. Disunion revisits and reconsiders America's most perilous period -- using contemporary accounts, diaries, images and historical assessments to follow the Civil War as it unfolded.

So this will be a day by day account of the news that was happening during the Civil War pulled from the NY Times's Archives. I know there are some Civil War buffs here on the site and thought this would be of interest.

We had a pretty cool WW2 site started, by Cheesebeer, but momentum never really built up and it disintegrated into formless reflections of matter...

Very cool! Thanks lucas. Always enjoyed the Ken Burns documentary. But having a day by day account is really awesome.

Yeah that is awesome, I like studying the Civil War and World War II. My mom has a diary in safe deposit kept by my great great great uncle's dad who went looking for my great great great uncle, who had been serving in the 29th WI in Grant's army in the siege of Vicksburg, the dad made it down the Mississippi River to Vicksburg searching for him to find that my great great great uncle had died from yellow fever or some such disease while serving for Grant.
I did have that WWII forum that disappeared into formless reflections of matter. If anybody wants input on history or forums or anything like that let me know, it's fun stuff for me.

Cool blog. Recently finished Shelby's Footes Civil War, Vol 1. Great read - taking a short break then getting into Vol 2.
