I spent all day yesterday trying out software that could fix this video. It sounds great but the shooter screwed up the chroma....I sent a VOB file to aiko who thinks he can fix it. I would like it to be re-authored in black and white instead of the pink below. I'll let you know if it works.

After 2 days of software issues, I solved the problem of the pink satuaration. I'll re-transfer the beta tape to DVD recorder with an s-video splitter cable and use only the lumina RCA feed - not the chroma feed. This will give me a pure black and white image. Total cost: $4.00 dollars. Laughing

This is a great show too, I felt that they were hitting a stride for the first time since Brent died.

I am thinking about having "watching parties". I know Cheesebeer and aiko were considering doing it with NFL games....

I agree. I can't listen to a whole show. I thought by the middle of Europe they started coming together. Paris was what I would call "strong" .

Is there anything worse than a 40 minute post-drums Dark Star? Where's Hauling Oats when you really need them?

There were moments of encouragement, but for the most part Vince really kept the band from stretching out for a while. Bruce saved that band. It really is striking how off they were when you compare them to the spring shows, which are off the charts. In any case, the Tempe shows were quite nice. I'll make the video of it tomorrow and get it out to any and all who ask for it. Cool

Agreed. I ran out of gas on the drive into the venue on day 1, but otherwise things went extremely well. The Scarlet Fire was especially nice. The second sets were looooong.

I'm gonna cue this up for a listen after I'm done with Nassau 1980. I really like 12-8-90 but 12-9-90 I have always skipped over.

40 mins? Maybe if you count all of Space and the Playin reprise.

Don't force me to force you to listen to the 9/8/90 pre-drums again! Nobody ever listens to the Richfield shows from this tour, but they were much, much better than the Vince-only Philly shows that followed. Start-of-tour, high-energy, with the entire band stepping up to help Vin along. Playin from 9/7 might be the best of the tour. Eyes>Estimated>Terrapin from 9/8 is not just a tour highlight, but a 1990 highlight.

I would agree that 9/8 was a solid show, sans Bruce.
We are now officially "Enemies of the Waterfowl State" for expressing dissenting opinions though... luckily, I have a golden retriever to protect me... how about you S&R?

No, I was asking who is protecting you? (once you dissent from the Duck... you are on "the list")... and who said anything about being tight or not? Separate issue.
I was not offering to protect you with my dog. She's great and all, but she lives in another state than you!

That's bullshit. I don't care what Deadheads think. It's to each his own. It's only opinions after all. If people want to talk about more than what's on a tape, I'm much more interested. The Grateful Dead experience was more than just recordings. Why don't we talk about mass communal levitation at the Greek Theater? Or Mr. Clyde Williams - "Willie" as he was called by the folks in front of the line at Bay Area shows?

Really, because you went apeshit when I said that 8/4/79 wasn't good in my opinion... interesting, perhaps I am not really a deadhead? I mean, I don't dig Donna nor do I dig the majority of 8/4/79... and of course... I wasn't there for either.

Duck, chill out dude... I too, like S&R, and just jerking your chain a bit. As much flack as you give out, you should be willing to take a little. Lighten up brother... and take my signature to heart.

Dear landlord
Please don't put a price on my soul
My burden is heavy
My dreams are beyond control
When that steamboat whistle blows
I'm gonna give you all I got to give
And I do hope you receive it well
Depending on the way you feel that you live.

Dear landlord
Please heed these words that I speak
I know you've suffered much
But in this you are not so unique
All of us, at times we might work too hard
To have it too fast and too much
And anyone can fill his life up
With things he can see but he just cannot touch.

Dear landlord
Please don't dismiss my case
I'm not about to argue
I'm not about to move to no other place
Now, each of us has his own special gift
And you know this was meant to be true
And if you don't underestimate me
I won't underestimate you.

That's right Duck! And here's my video... (NSFW)

This thread is about fixing the color attributes of a an uncirculated video. I think you may have strayed off the program. It was a bunch of effort. But many will reap the rewards. No victim - just hard work for a while.

Thanks for filling me in on what the thread was about... which was really you wanting recognition for your efforts...
I will satisfy you thus, because it is great that you are getting these things out...

Duck, thanks for all your hardwork, people should appreciate you more. I definitely appreciate your efforts, and am glad you have taken such a personal interest in sharing the music/video of my favorite band.

That being said, don't expect me to stop slinging poop your way from time to time, and especially when you become the "victim".

As I watched this last night, it brought a smile to my face to see my friend Armila, an older woman who lived in Walnut Creek , CA sitting behind Bruce. She toured for many years. Always up front with us on the rail. I remember her crying during a particular Stella Blue - Red Rocks 9-7-83. She was so sweet, and had many, many friends who loved her. I believe she died of the cancer that she battled so bravely. She was a wonderful kind woman with a kind heart and un-dying passion for the Grateful Dead.

I know Duck's good person, right Duck?......And I will add, I was wrong. I really thought you were UWWRFOB, and I am wrong. Sorry for villifying you on that particular username Duck. But that leads me to another question, if Duck aint him, then why would someone use an abbreviation for a nickname for Duck from the Den, here?...Weird.

EDIT: Wait, I just read Ducks' post about "Mass communal levitation at Berkely"..Duck, care to explain. I am interested in that. Were you joking?

Duck, I actually listened to this show for what I think was the first time last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is an awesome performance by Bruce... who was on in December (and September), he really added to it, and clearly outclassed Vince.

Great show, thanks for putting it on my radar.
