My mom has the current issue of this magazine and it has a really awesome article on this event and many sweet pics, the concert was quite successful except for someone stole the gate receipts during the GD set. I swear a j craig put something up about this show but I can't find it.
I don't think any tapes of this show circulate but it seems like quite the acid/music party.
Some good pics of Baby Huey up there too, awesome.

These are some fantastic pictures! Thanks for the pointer, cheese, I never knew anything about this event before this. Other than the fact that it's one of the four(?) Dark Stars from 1970 that are still MIA Sad

The article in the magazine was really good too actually, a Smithsonian style piece on the rock festival. No tapes in the vault of this one, and the organizer, a free thinking biker type, lost his personal reels according to the article. Sad because it sounds like there was a decent sound system on hand.
When organizing the festival, they were trying to get Jefferson Airplane, but they wanted too much. Jerry Garcia committed to it for a third of the Dead's usual fee, 9500 dollars, he apparently knew the organizer too.
The owner of the farm actually wrote to the organizer when she had heard about it, a 79 year old grandmother who must have liked hippies, so they rented her place for $5000.
The weather was nice, sounded like an amazing show. The GD reportedly played for a few hours instead of the 50 minute set in the contract (talk of contracts and the organizer's attorneys in this piece brought to mind Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.)
Glad you guys dug those pictures Very Happy

This is great! I love it when they wear their Fillmore t-shirts.
