The second set of this show is one I listened to a lot for years as I taped it from the radio. I just gave the second set another listen and liked the it a lot, particularly the Dark Star and even the Drums. The Eyes also is solid as is the double encore. Branford is very good in this show. I actually see it almost on a par with the 3/29/90 show.

I guess the Dark Star may not have enough of the Space mode in it as some others that people like, such as the 7/12/90 or the 10/26/89 ones, but I like the directions this one goes.

I just checked and the 12/31/90 show did not receive one nomination for the top 64 shows (I probably would have done so but I did not get around to any nominations for this time period.)

So, what are your thoughts about this show, perhaps in comparison to the 3/29/90 show which has some key similarities with the 12/31/90 show?

NFA> Eyes> Dark Star is a pretty great way to start the second set! My only issue with this show is the crowded stage. Two keyboardists + Branford doesn't leave much room for poor old Jerry. I really like Branford, and he always plays well with the boys, but they're not among my favorite shows for some reason. Still, I think this is a really fun show.

The transition from Eyes to Dark Star also is rather smooth and really a transition rather than the often rather abrupt start to Dark Star from something else.

I pretty much echo these sentiments.

I kind of agree but I blame Jerry for this... a little less tooting to keep his head in the game maybe would help?
Anyhow, I am in the camp that loves when there is a sax playing along... 9/22/93 for example, 3/29/90... and yes, 9/10/91 (though the two keyboardists does probably not add as much as it takes away).

I am not really familiar with this show, though. I will have to check it out.

I just luv this show especially since I was there. on the FM broadcast, Phil's bass is just thumping through out NFA up and down the fret board.

I think the only reason that holds this show back is Jerry's voice is just shot by this night. just listen to frog in his throat as he sings Dark Star...

I remember in the lot after the show, myself being at newbie at this point being told how when GD played Dark Star, they sang both verses before space.

let's not forget the 10 min Other One but again the horrible vocals by Jerry in Wharf rat really holds the show back.

but the music is just fantastic...
