not a big fan of '76 in general or this show in particular - nice setlist on paper but heard it and moved on...

i know there are those who love this selection

I think this is one of the better Summer 76 shows. They definately sound "on" and having fun. A little more energetic than the sometimes lazy pace of that tour. I've always liked 6/11 and 6/12 Boston a lot too.

June 76 is one of my listen favorite periods. Someone once explained to me that they were slower then because they had to M. Hart back up to speed. That is possible. I think they were just stoned and in that type of mood...

Whatever the reason, I am not a huge fan of that time period. I listened to this show, and 6/9, and I had similar feelings about to those that Swami mentioned.

76 in general is not something I listen to often (which is why the 7/18/76 show is not my favorite 2nd set. The setlist is amazing, and the execution is surely beautiful, but...)

You did ask for opinions.

Great show, great recording. H>S>F is a spacey monster and the Crazy Fingers is amazing. Shows from '76 with a CR&S get bonus points.

i have loved this show for years, was recently reacquainted with it when a sweet new transfer of it came out. my favorite parts are the Help>SLIPKNOT!!!!!>Franklin's and the awesome Cosmic Charlie.

the rest of it is sweet, too.

the 1st Dead tape i ever got was 6/10/76 (mislabeled "GD 1974"), so the '76 sound is one in which i feel right at home, so to speak.

My favorite 76 moment so far is the St. Stephen>Eyes of the World that kicks off the second set of 6/9/76 Boston Music Hall. The recording on the archive has the coolest sounding AUD splice into St. Stephen. That's not a bad show either, especially the second set. Phil sounds good to me on this one too.

Set 1 Cold Rain & Snow, Cassidy, Scarlet Begonias, The Music Never Stopped, Crazy Fingers, Big River, They Love Each Other, Looks Like Rain, Ship of Fools, Promised Land

Set 2 Saint Stephen-> Eyes Of The World-> Let It Grow-> Drums-> Let It Grow, Brown Eyed Women, Lazy Lightning-> Supplication, High Time, Samson & Delilah, It Must Have Been The Roses, Dancin' In The Streets-> Wharf Rat-> Around & Around, E: Franklin's Tower

July 76 starts things up for me... 7/18/76 is amazing of course.
I seem to remember 8/4/76 being solid.
And, of course, NYE76

09/28/76 Syracuse (& 9/25 Cap Centre - great Dick's Pick)

10/09/76 Oakland
12/31/76 Cow

That's about all I go to from 1976.

regarding 1976-06-11. A real jewel, for which I am (fortunately) able to suspend my dislike of Donna's contribution long enough to admit I'm wrong this time.

Cheers

Dave
