Cool!
I intend to be seeding these until I have a new HD to put it on...
I was thinking of doing the entire JGB collection actually. Once I get that HD, I will up the rest of the years.

The purchase point will be when portable HDs (USB powered) are available in 640GB or greater. They are currently at 500GB.

It is lookin like it will take 2 weeks for 78 to finish. I don't mind waiting since my computer is almost always on. Then I will seed for as long as I can and I will post the shows in the JGB download section.

Western Digital and Hammer are both putting out 1TB USB drives over here, for around $250nz They do need a separate power supply.

I'd be surprised if they weren't available in the USA.

I am trying to become a minimalist. I have entirely too much [CENSORED] in my life... extra space for a barely noticeable>not noticeable difference (to my war battered ears) is an easy cut for me!
FLAC just doesn't make that possible.
The FLAC I upload to your site, I do so right before I convert it to MP3.

many can't HEAR the difference I know, in some cases it's more noticeable than others.
in my experience now I find that the lossless burns to CD with a lot fewer errors than the MP3's will and that is becoming MY battle cry
yes I have an iPod and another player both with transmitters for the car, but I still burn lots of my music to CD's. It's also much easier to give a friend a CD and not a DVD of FLAC and then tell them all the stuff they need to do to burn to CD

What is this CD you speak of?
Laughing

Definitely don't use those for music anymore, part of the move to minimalize. You are probably right about that though, I could see that being the case.

When I do use MP3, I only use HQ... none of that 128kbps crap! I prefer to get 256, but almost always 200+.
If I did spend the time, and put everything on my nice stereo, I would probably here some kind of difference. Another reason I just can't do CDs anymore though, I am lazy! I hate having to change discs 2-3 times a show... this is probably the main reason I am so far behind on watching all the DVDs I burn!

If you were here right now I would be hugging you in happiness. Somehow with all my recent internet problems I have finally finished downloading the year of 78. It is now seeding!!! This is exactly what the doctor prescribed after a weird not so great day. Thank you very much man. I will be uploadin these shows in the future for everyone to get from here in the Jerry Downloads. I will need some time though, gotta make sure the internet problems are over. Cheers

I would say any LOM fan will love Reconstruction....The lineup is different but it is basically LOM with a Trombone...Now that being said, I think it definately has a different feel. It seems more like Merl's band than Jerry's, even though it is actually Kahn's creation. I think these shows are interesting in that Jerry kinda hangs back on many tunes, and lets the other boys shine......Jerry Miller from Moby Grape was the original guitar player, but then the band promptly booted him when Jerry was available....He said he always wanted to be in a Jazz band, and this was it.....They are great, and if you like LOM you will love these guys...

Jerry Garcia - guitar, vocals
John Kahn - bass
Merl Saunders - keyboards, vocals
Ed Neumeister - trombone
Ron Stallings - tenor saxophone, vocals
Gaylord Birch - drums

WHAT!!!! It is prime Jerry in a weird setting which makes for some interesting music. My favorite stuff he has done other than the Howard Wales stuff, which also has a jazz feel at times.
