This is a band that I have been listening to forever. They are always a good fall back when not listening to the Dead. They have the ability to jam like real musicians with real instruments or rap better than most other mainstream rappers. The DJ they use Mix Master Mike is no slouch either. That man can mix with the best of them. They have helped revolutionize hip hop. I am still not sure if thats a good thing or not. Oh, I forgot to mention that they were originally a punk band. That sweetens the shuffle fun on the iPod. Essential listening would include. Paul's Boutique, Ill Communication, Hello Nasty, The Mix Up (instrumental album), License To Ill. Check Your Head and To The Five Burroughs are honorable mentions. I have a bootleg from Germany if anyone wants to B&P.

I love the beasties!
Always have...
I also like the Brent era, all shows of which are about to be out of the tournament come round 2's end, except 3/29/90, because it has had byes and hasn't gone up against some amazing, ripsnorting 71 ultimate definition of the Grateful Dead show yet.

Amazing how you can turn a Beastie's thread into a March Deadness thread.

Sorry.
I just came to those conclusions today, and had to work through it. I am done now... I littered the board enough with my shock and disbelief.

Anyhow, BBoys. Very good band, ever since License to Ill, they were on the scene.
Are they still around? I haven't heard anything about them for a long time now it seems.

Check Your Head was their masterpiece I think.

Nein, Paul's Boutique, one of the top albums ever.

My wife scored this over the pond when she went over during college to Great Britain and stayed in the castle there as part of the exchange program.
No track listing, but it is an ass kicking bootleg for a tape. The Shake Your Rump is awesome. I will give it a go later and write up a track listing.
Dogstarz, can you convert tape to digital, is it part of your setup? I could almost send you this or a copy in order to digitize it, looks like a free and clean ROIO to share.

c'mon... only one 71 show is going to the next round. the brent era is being beaten handily by virtually every other era.

The newest Beastie's album would In The Mix. Its and instrumental album. I also got their DVD Awesome, I Fucking Shot That. Such a good film. A live performance in MSG. You can tell they were happy to be home.

Cheese I don't know how to convert tape to digital. Atleast not yet.

Surely some enterprising head here either knows someone or knows how to make this analog tape into a digital WAV? Right?

This is what it's all about folks.

So I found a torrent of Paul's Boutique Demos,B-Sides,Instrumentals,and near every song sampled on the album. Apparently they used Hey Pocky Way performed by The Meters.

I will send you a pm and see if we can set something up, I'm sure I could rig something together but would rather someone with some knowledge do it in order for it to come out sounding all right, so I would be interested in that proposition.

OK lucasmcain was moving at that point and been pretty busy, I found somebody in the general area who would do this for me, I dug out this tape again and sent it off, hoping it works out well. Set list was a bitch, there were around 30 songs on it from Some Old Bullshit, Licensed to Ill, Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head, and Ill Communication. Getting names for the funk instrumentals was work too.
I have a couple other Beastie Boys boots in my collection too, will look into it this weekend, they are a great live band.

I haven't heard that yet, I believe it though. They always come up with great beats, I really like their stuff, been listening to them since Licensed to Ill came out. I remember when Paul's Boutique came out, my brother bought it, we were completely confused, it was so new. One of the greatest ever albums.

I never joined demonoid. I dled a bunch of stuff there a while back, new stuff you could get on without joining. I was thinking maybe dimeadozen.org, by the way, thanks for getting me to sign up for that place a while back, they have some good free trade recordings. Demonoid sounds cool, but I also have over +-1000 records and a bunch of other music on hand, so between that and bootlegs where do I stop? Laughing
This is a nice aud imo. Sound isn't bad at all.

I saw the Beasties, Sonic Youth and L-7 at some horrible venue in Glen Burnie, MD in the early 90's. Missed a portion of Sonic Youth but Beasties were really cool.
