According to McNally's book Janis sang Lovelight with Pig. I want to say it happened in July of 70 or 71. I was wondering if anyone knows of this show? Or even if this is in circulation?

I have read 2 different stories about the Dead playing (rather not playing) with Jimi. One story says the band was supposed to play with Jimi one night. They stayed up all night waiting on him to show up and he never did. His excuse was that got high with some girl and had relations with her. Then when he asked if he could play with them they said yes. He was ready to come out on stage but as a revenge they never called him to stage.

The other version of the story was the band was too high on LSD and Mickey forgot to cue Jimi to the stage.

I was wondering if anyone has heard or read these rumors about Jimi playing with the boys.

10/13/68 was the date that the Dead left Jimi hanging basically played to the curfew of the joint from what I read, Jimi was slated to be up next.

Apparently this was a spiteful snub in retaliation for a similar incident earlier (a Monterey Pop Festival???).

4 21 69 The Ark
I don't think Jimi was in on it, but I dig the Foxy Lady jam off of this one before the Dark Star.

That would be the one where Jimi left them hanging. At least I think it is.

The 1969/06/07 show also has the first Dire Wolf for those interested in hearing a primitive version of a classic.

What a damn shame Exclamation However, I did read that at Monterey people bitched that it wasn't free so a smaller stage was set up nearby and impromptu jams would take place. I have heard that at one of these jams Weir played with Hendrix. Too bad that Garcia and Hendrix never got the chance to trade licks say on Dark Star or Third Stone From the Sun. [CENSORED] Exclamation Exclamation

I have also read that Weir did play with Hendrix. I believe all the amps were "borrowed" without anyone's permission. They were returned to the rightful owner after the jam session though.

The similar incident took place at the Avalon the night before (1/12). The band had set up late transportation so that they could jam into the night with Jimi, but he never showed beacuse of a chick...

Hendrix choose [CENSORED] instead of participating in what probably would have been a monumental jam!

Weir did very informally jam with Hendrix at Monterey, but it was not on a stage and I dont think there were any amps involved. It was in the Guild Guitars hospitality tent and I dont think they plugged in?
