New here (thanks for the link Kochman)... Just wanted to announce my presence, and also how much I digg the Brent years!!! However, unrelated I know, I have been really REALLY digging ANY good quality shows with Branford. I recently got a hold of 9/10/91 @ MSG, and it rekindled a lil somethin' for me!!! This night in particular is OFF THE CHAIN!! 8 people on stage and it never turns to 'just noise'. There is a certain Jazzy feel that can't be denied-----Even during Dark Star... Enough rambling... I love the GD, and the fans.... And Thanks again for the link, I think I'll fit in just fine.

Someone mentioned this site over at the archive forum. I'm happy they did. This seems to be a breath of fresh air. I noticed that you said something about a chat, once I play around on here long enough I will be a part of that I'm sure. Oh and Kochman thanks for the Dark Star post in the songs thread.

Cool, let me know if you need help with the chatroom. You will need to enter your profile and select "Yes" where is says "Allow HTML".

Then every week there is a post about when the chatroom will be used for the listening parties (generally later Friday and Saturday nights). I will be missing them while family is in town for Christmas though.

About the chatroom, you can also set up a listening party at any time. No permission needed, for any group or show, etc. Only Friday & Saturday nights have dibs, for the aforementioned Grateful Dead Listening Parties.

I know some might be interested in a JGB show every so often, that would be a perfect example. Totally cool, someone would just have to provide the rapidshare of the show or something. In fact, if you want to have a listening party for Britney Spears that is fine. Whoever you want.

Welcome!

So, are you looking at the directory where you downloaded them to to try and open them?
For mine, I have it in my music, and I had the media player locate it, and I can play it from there no problem.
You should be able to open them from where you downloaded them to, like other files.

Let me know in as much detail as possible and I will see if I can't help you out. If that doesn't work, after the holidays we can get in the chatroom here and work through it together at the same time.

Don't worry, noobs do not exist here. Once you're in, you're in... kind of like the mafia...
Which brings me back to Speeding Arrow/Zephyr...
Very similar concept here, and even Zephyr himself is a regular at the pub! His site was definitely the inspiration for this site.

So, whoever it is out there that registered as "Freddo Corleone"... its "Fredo", as in, Alfredo.
If you would like me to change it to the correct spelling, let me know.

Hi, I,ve been a Dead fan since the sixties. Yeah, I still remember the sixties, most of them. Woodstock was the big thing. Saw the Dead for their New Years eve show in Boston in 1969, also used to see them at the Ark. Saw them at Watkins Glen. Went to all the shows at the Cape Cod Coliseum. I don't write much, thanks for letting me in. have a nice night. Jim

iam fairly new to the site. I don't have a lot to say. I can remember the Dead in the sixties, and seventies. there was always something new, and interesting. There still is, if you don't mind listening to older music. I can never get enough. For all the ladies out there, have a very happy Mothers day. have a nice night. Jim

Hello all,
This is my first post. Glad to be here. I've got it pretty bad for the Dead. They are all I listen to. I also play an acoustic guitar Dead celebration show, just me, my guitar, and a stomp box. I'm a big 73/74 fan, but so much great stuff happened in every era that I stay open to all of it. For instance early 80's is intriguing because of the lightning fast Garcia chops and the emergence of Brent. I used to rule out post-coma stuff...but then you are missing out on the era when the rest of the band was just crazy good and the sound quality awesome. I could go on and on, but I shan't. I look forward to reading the archives here and getting to know you guys!

IMKind -- Hey Now! Welcome aboard. Lots of cool people, lots of good discussion, some contentious discussion, too, but that's part of life, ya know. Anyway, dig in and enjoy. You listen to Jerry, too? Lotsa Jerry stuff for you download if you're interested. My motto (not really) is -- one cannot live on GD alone!

When you've got time, jump right into the threads! and check out the Listening Parties on Saturday nights. Fun stuff!

See ya around!

Listening parties are often on Friday nights too... sometimes both...
Next weekend expect me to host one on Friday.

Basically, anyone can host one at any time, but the weekends are sort of a tradition.

Thanks, Zooma. I haven't been listening to Jerry stuff; but the other day I heard the Kean College After Midnight/Eleanor Rigby/After Midnight jam, and that has piqued my interest. So I went on archive.org to get some, but they don't go there...only post-Jerry JGB. So I guess I have to bittorrent it?

I don't know how many there are, 50 shows maybe, but this is a good place to start:

Only registered users can see links on this forum!
Register or Login on forum!

It's all mp3 and easily downloadable. Lotsa juicy Jerry and in all different incarnations -- Jerry & Merl, Old & In The Way, Jerry & John Kahn, Jerry Acoustic Band, Jerry & Bob Weir, Jerry & David Grisman, and of course, the JGB -- to sink yer teeth into if you're so inclined!! One can surely get lost in the GD forever but as I said before, man cannot live on GD alone!

It's all mp3 and easily downloadable. Lotsa juicy Jerry and in all different incarnations -- Jerry & Merl, Old & In The Way, Jerry & John Kahn, Jerry Acoustic Band, Jerry & Bob Weir, Jerry & David Grisman, and of course, the JGB -- to sink yer teeth into if you're so inclined!! One can surely get lost in the GD forever but as I said before, man cannot live on GD alone!

See ya 'round!

Outstanding. I can see that I'm going to like it here! Very Happy

I guess that means it's my turn now.

I thought I'd registered here a while ago but maybe not or maybe my inactivity got me pruned. Been through quite a number of computer problems Crying or Very sad Mad Sad (at home and work Surprised for some time now) so just getting back in gear again. ANYwho .. nice site.

I have a fairly large, broad collection of GD, GD Family and GD Related (and some completely different too) music. Audio & Video. It's not as big as some but it suits me. For now. Until I get more. Rolling Eyes

Although it's wildly behind as far as listing what I have feel free to peruse

. I try to get stuff added as I find time, but my extended period of computer troubles coupled with my insatiable O.D.D., increasing storage space and broadband connection make it seem unlikely to ever be fully in sync. But I'm always willing to trade, B&P or whatever. I do participate in several bt sites as well as a couple DC++ hubs. You can also often find me in furthurnet client and/or forums.

Feel free to give me a holler. Smile

Being able to converse with people who understand the beauty, uniqueness and importance of the Grateful Dead is incentive enough for me.

Hey guys, looks like I'm the newest kid here.

I was a member of the old Speeding Arrow forum, right around when it got shut down. I tried to follow along afterwards, but I lost touch. A kind friend pointed me this way, and now I'm here.

I'm right smack in the middle of my first semester at the Uni. of Northern Colorado, and right at the beginning of a deep Dead binge.

Whoever sent me the invite to this site -- Cheers! I must be in the right place.

I've been on a 15 year Dead hiatus. That, after being a proverbial tour rat throughout the 80's. After Brent died, shows just made me sad so I stopped the touring. A week after JerBear died, I lost everything in a fire that took my music collection. I never replaced it, and basically stopped listening to the Dead.

I hadn't seen any of the the Jerry-less iterations until the recent Furthur tours. My Bay-area family turned me on and I went to shows Wallingford, CT, Asbury Park, NJ, Radio City and Chicago. I was blown away. Don't get me wrong, John Kadlecik is only hitting a fraction of the notes Jerry could at will, but he was hitting them at the right time. The last show in Chicago really wet my appetite, and I began to hunger. I went to archive.org when I got home and discovered that they no longer allow downloads of SBD shows. Supreme bummer. That is where I ran into someone on this site (Kochman?) who sent me an invite. Thank you.

I am now on a mission to replace my once magnificent catalog. I just have to figure out how things work around here.

Well, glad as hell to have you back!
The ease of the ability to download everything digitally led to a renaissance of GD listening for me, a couple of years ago, and I have never looked back!

Hallo I am new here! I am still learning about the whole GD world ... sill looking at the Everest ... so to speak!

Anyway musically here in Croatia (Pula - Istria) is the "desert" ... almost nobody even knows about the Grateful Dead which is very frustrating ... I was fortunate enough to get to Your site!

Well ... I will be listening / reading for the time being!

Ciao!

Hi folks,

I am new here and don't know if there is a forum or space where one can post requests for help. If someone tells me the correct forum to post this, I 'll remove this entry from here.

In my case, there is something I really need help with.

It has to do with having Comcast and not being able to download and process Torrents at all.
I need to download the Zane-remastered "Sunshine Daydream" DVD.
I know I won't be able to do so, since there is no possibility to get a different ISP where I live.
If a KIND soul would be willing to make me a DVD copy and mail it to me I would of course pay in cash in advance, but more than that, this kind soul would have my sincere gratitude.
Also wanted to know if anyone in the Cambridge MA area is planning to celebrate Pigpen's birthday today. Maybe we could have a beer or whatever.

Thanks,
AL

There is a section here for Vines, B&Ps, free downloads...
That is probably the best place to post it brother.

I have that video, but my DVD burning capability is currently jacked...
Perhaps another kind soul here can assist you.
