Yeah really - somebody quick blast some Donna at max volume and save me from this talented and soulful musician's contributions to the band! How dare he actually write songs and play them!

Yes:

Blow Away, Easy To Love You, and Just A Little Light are all amongst my favorites. Oh, and I am huge on Don't Need Love. Brent's work on many cover songs (i.e. Dear Mr. Fantasy) was outstanding. Even Far From Me was very welcome in the 80s setlist rotation as far as I'm concerned.

It's all about the hamstrung blues, brah.

If I'm missing any where he sings lead vocals, let me know. I think all of them are there, though.

Don't get me wrong, I like Brent, and I like many of those songs. But I doubt that I would ever choose to sit down and listen to them all in order -- Hence the "nightmare setlist" comment. Always liked Brent's take on Mr. Fantasy.

Just A Little Light
Gentleman Start your Engines
Far From Me
I Will Take You Home

My friends and I used to play a drinking game to Just A Little Light. Whenever he sings "Give me a little sweetness" you start drinking beer than you stop when he says "Just a little light". That was at least a beer and a half gone in one song.

I've never been that hot on Just a little light. Would y'all say that 7/12/90 is the definitive version?

The Just a Little Light lyrics freaked out my friend years ago after he dropped. Since then, he's always yelled at me when I played it Laughing

Can you recommend good versions of Tons of Steel?
I have heard a few that I liked, but none that really stuck out... I always found it kind of cheesy (though I like cheesy).

Honestly Koch, the only TOS I really like is the one from the Spectrum 4/8/85. I actually really, really like this show. I wouldn't necessarily call the TOS a barn burner, but it's a good one, well played and well placed in the set. I guess I thought the question was about the good songs, not necessarily if they were ever performed well. I just love the lyrics to this song, though. It always seemed to fit with all of the Hunter/Garcia railroad songs. And I really like the way he equates the locomotive with a woman. Lines like, "She's temperamental, more a [CENSORED] than a machine," really show off Brent's ability to write lyrics even before he and Barlow got together.

I like Brent I really don't understand his unpopularity, as for the songs ...well yes .... so and so compared to the others, but still a good refreshment.

I have the compilationand occasionally listen to it!

And now something really unpopular: I like "We can Run" ..... Embarassed

It is very melodic song with rethorical lyrics , but the words seem to be written today!!!

Koch ... what you mean exactly when you say "cheesy" for a song?

OK ... then Jackie Green's voice so clear, nice, clean is cheesy to me! Thanks I have just added one more term in my dictionary like the diference between "analized" and "analyzed" .... have you realized that my dictionary is improving while talking about Brent's music bothe times Confused Shocked Laughing
