I've probably plugged this show more than any, super hero dead.
El Dude-o, where do you put this dew compared to the others of '73?
I think it's the clear best, it's on a differnt level.

Hmmmm.. I may have to listen to it again. I thought it was good but wasnt like "holy smokes!" but maybe I didnt give it a good enough listen. The one Dew from 73 that I think is tops is 2/28/73 (DP28) 3/26 is pretty good too. 6/10 is OK - Dew as an opener...I dunno. I'll give this another listen and get back to ya..

I like Dew as an opener in the older days, with the strong cymbol intro... but in the later days it is an odder, and less frequent placement of course.

ABout 8/1/73 Dew. I like it, a lot. I am not sure about best of the year. Last time I listened though, the source had some problems. I see there are new sources out now that (hopefully) have fixed the problem, I shall have to give it another go Arrow

From 10:00 till the end is magic, no way to really describe it, very euphoric, just exactly perfect......12:10 --> 12:45 IS exactly what the x-factor doctor ordered!!

I listened to it last night. It is indeed x-factor. BUT - I'm not sure if it tops 2/28/73. I'll weigh in later today. BTW the Dew was played 16 times in '73. Wow

I was lucky enough to be in attendance at this show and the one from the nite before. It was shortly after Watkins Glen and The Band opened for the Dead both nites. Lesh was off to the side of the stage dancing his ass off while The Band were playing. 8/1/73(Garcia's 30th or 31st Birthday)was one of the best shows I've been to.DS>EL Paso>Eyes>Dew is absolutely mind bending. I grabbed this show off the old Arrow. nugs.net has just the DS through Dew but it may be from a different source. Sounds great. Anyway I have also plugged this show alot. Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City was a decrepit old minor league baseball park. It was a great place to see The Dead. I heard they liked playing there. I think they must have played there at least 6 or 7 times. Of course we are always partial to the shows we have been too, but this one is really special Cool Cool

I...HATE..YOU...(just kidding) Damn, I am jealous. That must have been so cool to see shows in those days. The pics of Roosevelt I've seen make it look like a Brokedown Palace. too bad they tore it down!! I got the matrix off of losslesslegs or etree - definate improvement in the sound.
I wonder if this is the show Rock Sculley talks about in his book where one of the Dead family dosed Albert Grossman and he was freaking out backstage..

more pics of the band w/ the wall of sound

Hey Gopher, Re: merits of 8/173's Dew vs. 2/28/73 which I championed. I think you are right - Just listened to them- it nudges out 2/28 by a hair. A little more intense and maybe another measure of machine gun riffs. Still the 2/28 Dew is killah as well. No on to the other Dews of 73 Very Happy

Hey! I know this is about DEWS but the 3 songs that precede 8/1 make that DEW DO. Could be the best 70 minutes of music my ears have ever heard!

Not to be mistaken with a Dew Doo - Ala 12/31/88 where they forget how to do the simple ending part and marr an otherwise great NYE show?
