Hey now
I haven't been on here for a while, due to so much. Work and [CENSORED] has just been crazy. I don't even have time lately to listen to any shows.

Anyone, my question is do you guys ever go "Grateful Dead" phases"? For example, as much as I love the boys, I go through these phases where I will listen to them none stop for months at a time, post to the boards, look for a different show from a different year most of the time....you get the jist. Then, as fast and as hard as I've been listening to them, I will totally lose all interest and take a long ass break and not listen to them. Every once in a while, I'll throw them on my satellite radio in the car if I'm Alone (the bride does not like the dead), but for the most part I stay away. I'm not sure why this happens, or if it happens to any of you, so I figured I would shout it out and see what you guys have to say.
So this new guy starts at work the other day, and I'm walking through the parking lot today having a cigarette and I notice a steal your face sticker on the back of his car. So we get to talking, and we start talking about shows and [CENSORED] and all of a sudden I'm back on this bus!!!....does this ever happen to any of you.
Nice to be back speaking on the boards. Hope to hear from all you cats

Peace and b wild
Mike

I think that a lot of us deadheads experience the same... I know I have taken a hiatus or ten.
I don't know what it is... perhaps their inconsistency is part of it, we become inconsistent as fan?

Haha!! Absolutely!!! I can go for really long periods without listening to the boys Then as you said, something triggers and off I go back to listening. I haven't been able to see a pattern but I probably go through 6-12 month cycles where I don't listen. I think the longest stretch was almost 2 years.

I think it's good to take breaks. I know that I LOVE the feeling of getting back into them. There's so much documented history of the band that you can jump in almost anywhere and find something new so I think there's that element. The discovery element. I still have whole years that I haven't listened to much of. Those are stashed for later in life

Good point! When you reintroduce them into the mix, it takes on new life!
