Bertha is plagued by sound issues.
BIODTL
Deal
Mexicali
is fun, they’re getting their juices flowing here.
Box of Rain, believe it if you need it, great version.
Bird Song has a mellow, rather unique intro. It also isn’t with SQ issues, but nothing major. The jam session is way laid back, sounds nice, but don’t use this to stay awake while driving on a long, straight highway. The jam after the 2nd verse has more energy and I found it to be more satisfying. A lot of people love this Bird Song, not my cup of tea.
Race is On gets things back on track, so to speak. Short but fun.
Sugaree has a nice tempo and doesn’t let me down.
LLR is well played, back into mellow yellow territory. Great Jerry in here.
Row Jimmy has a great jam before the final verse, Keith is nice and prominent, but still tucked in nicely behind Jerry most of the time. Phil has a great tone to the bass during the final chorus, where Keith takes the forefront as a non-singing type of dude.
Jack Straw is one of the most energetic of the era, great stuff.
China>Rider maintains the energy and builds to it, they’ve gotten fully into their groove now. Keith is really strong still, and he takes a major role in the transition. There cohesion is also great during the transition, in particular Jerry, Phil and Keith.
Big River is basically a Keith showcase, in the background. He keeps it hopping along nicely, tough to lose with this song.
TN Jed is solid.
PITB jam goes straight to exploratory. Phil is stepping it up here, nice work by Bob behind it all, as Jerry has a great watery tone going. Around the 8 minute mark they notch up the energy. A fulfilling exploratory, jazz based type of jam.

HC Sunshine is always a great way to open a set, sets a positive tone. Full sunrise after the 6 minute mark! Bob in particular has a nice tone… X factor is achieved after the last verse. Great stuff, A+.
Promised Land, another rocking version.
BEW is another fine version.
El Paso, with Jerry noodling just right, and the build up with Keith punctuating the right moments, great El Paso.
Black Peter starts off mellow, and builds nicely, love this version. A rating.
GSET is raucous. Great wah wah, nice tempo, another homerun here.
Big RR, and another homerun. This second set is unstoppable.
Gone>Truckin’>Nobody’s Jam>Bass Solo>Jam>TOO>Wharf Rat>Sugar Magnolia
Gone opens the meat sequence in style. They do a calm vocals part, and with no outro jam blast straight into Truckin’! Good version with awesome explosion jam… the blues then slow down and after a couple of minutes let into a Nobody’s Fault Jam. Phil then pulls a solo with Billy backing, it’s ok, but I don’t really go in for that. Jerry comes back out and pushes things into space. It gets more interesting around the 20 minute mark, and as it speeds up it weaves itself perfectly into TOO theme, great work up to the verse. At 7 minutes into TOO they go fully into a wild space, dark space… creepy as hell, the type of place a Tiger could be lurking. He isn’t, but it was a great ride anyway, the type of space I can get into. Phil lays down some bombs to bring us back out of space and directly to TOO’s 2nd verse. Wharf Rat is the next stop on the trip, nice and psychedelic tones intact for the intro. Sugar Magnolia closes out the sequence in rocking style.
Casey Jones

Encore: Johnny B. Goode

Performance Summary
Pretty great stuff, each set being about 2 hours! At some point Phil mentioned they would be taking breaks… but they barely did, obviously. The first set took a bit to get where I would like it, but once it did, it was consistent. The 2nd set is unstoppable, as I said above… Classic.

Sound Quality
A, after the initial issues are sorted out. There were some problems in Bird Song. Overall, a fine sounding SBD, thanks again C Miller.
