#95 5/12/1980 Boston Garden, Boston, MA
#94 10/19/1981 Sports Palace, Barcelona, Spain
#93 5/16/1981 Barton Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
#92 12/30/1989 Coliseum Arena, Oakland, CA
#91 12/27/1989 Coliseum Arena, Oakland, CA

A full docket of listening here for the unfamiliar, in this 2nd installment of Points of Light.

Gone Jam fans, #95 all the way.
Wanting a dominating Jerry performance, #94 for you.
In that Stranger & Shakedown kind of mood, #93 Barton.
Looking for some intensity and focus, #92 is the right direction.
#91, well, please see my synopsis in the official thread.

Overall I'm partial to #91 - what a great recording and great performance, expect for the Dew issue. Also I will add that the Barton '81 has a really good post-Space sequence. Truckin-Nobody'sJam-Stella-GDTRFB-Saturday Night is mighty fine.

Nice!

My top pick of the 5?
TOO CLOSE TO CALL!!

I remember Duderino turning me on to the Boston Garden and the amazing Gone jam... definitely one to hold onto.

I love Barca, and was happy to see that it scraped its way onto the list despite the lack of Bob, that I didn't even really notice because I was so blown away by Jerry. Good call there.

The OTHER Barton Hall, always been a fan, but I do approve of its lower ranking.

The 2 from NYE run of 89... I'll address the 30th specifically. If there has ever been a more derailing song out of Space than this specifically poorly placed I Will Take You Out of Interest, I don't know when it was. They do manage to pick back up, but man, Brent, you really [CENSORED] the bed on that audible.
The Terrapin from that show derails as well, but then gets magnificently back on track. Kind of my synopsis of the whole show, inconsistently great.
Can't remember the 27th that well right now, but heavy MIDI has been more and more of a turn off recently.

So, in retrospect... my top pick... Either Barcelona or Boston.

Nice choices. The '89 shows are going to be new territory for me. It never ceases to amaze me how unfamiliar I am with so many shows that were played during my main touring years. "Going over the same old ground, year after year...." Indeed. Thanks for this PhD-level survey of all that is excellent.

A suggestion: can you include a link to the main Points of Light thread with each of these discussion threads? It'll make navigation easier.

I'll take care of the hyperlinking, good idea.
I am putting the link in each show that will go to the appropriate "room of 5".

Been busy at work...now for some catching up. Somehow I've never heard this Boston Garden show. Just queued it up and wow, rocking 1-2 punch with Jack Straw and Bama...and a nice El Paso, a great cowboy tune Smile. Looking forward to the Gone Jam.
