So I knowbi am going to catch a lot organic for thiamine, since I have read quite a bit of posts where you guys have said that you can't stand seastones

Anyway I'm listening to dicks picks vol 12 (which I'm sure is a surprise for those of you that know me ), and I just listened to the seastones portion of the show. I can't for the life of me figure out why you guys don't like it or think that it is terrible. To each his own I guess!!! To me it was like hearimg a killer version of space. Just all weird noises and shit, and just general trippyness.

Anyhow I'm going to go back and listen to this killer dick's picks and just go off inside my head. It has been one of those days where everything sucked, and I couldn't wait to just come home and chill out and listen to the boys do what the do best.

I know I saying this but if you haven't checked out Vol. 11 yet, stop what you are doing and get it immediately. You wont be disappointed. Especially then nice jazzy version of china/rider.

Anyhow all my fellow heads, I hope you are all finding inner peace and enjoying the boys as much as I am.
Peace And b Wild
Mike

I dig Seastones, though I enjoy the album more than the live performaces. I am sorry that for some reason that escapes me, I missed the opportunity to see Seastones perform live at The La Poloma Theater during their tour in 1975 or 1976....
The album is wonderful, and features many notable musicians joining the "Bio-Electric" tonal experiment. My best memory with Seastones comes from an afternoon acid trip in Phoenix, AZ 10-5-77, the day before the GD show in Tempe. The temp was 112 degrees, and my friend's house had no air conditioning. Our only relief was to strip naked, lay on the concrete slab in his party room, and BLAST SEASTONES, allowing the natural bio-molecular system to cool off.
The album is great. I think it's still available on cd. Laughing

Here was a previous thread on it... thought there was another one too, but I couldn't find it.

Seastones, for me, is a total waste of time... Does nothing for me. Like when a Dark Star falls apart into sheer abstract, unrelated sounds, it does nothing for me.

Yeah, I have to agree with Kochman. It only works for me as a foil for the rest of the music, knowing that I will appreciate it even more when it resumes. I enjoy a good dissonant space, but somehow the frequency of that particular feedback does not resonate right in my skull.

I AM glad that there are some who like it.

"Like when a Dark Star falls apart into sheer abstract, unrelated sounds, it does nothing for me. "

LOL....that's my favorite part of Dark Star. That's the point I always wish it would get to. The rest of the song is a bore to me....1974 and before Dark Stars are so much more interesting to me than the post 1978 ones that just seemed to go through the motions for the most part. I did think there were a few "nice" ones after 1978, but nothing like the epic the ones that were born of LSD and reflected the creation of the universe, the ones that "fall apart into sheer abstract, unrelated sounds". To each his own I guess.
