Hey now, been laid up in my recliner the last week with 2 herniated discs flaring up, so I have been noodling on all sorts of topics while catching up on my GD, LOM, JGB, OAITW etc listening. Thankfully, I've been able to keep work moving from home, so when I finally get back on my feet I won't be crushed at the office.
One thing I've been noodling on is building a Yurt as 3-season vacation home for the family. I don't want to invest a lot of scratch in a second property right now, so I thought if I bought a small lot in a relatively stable vacation oriented place and popped up a Yurt, there is little downside if I need to get out of the investment.
Anyone out there in LSP land have a yurt you use on a regular basis? How much time/effort is it to install and maintain? Do cistern systems really catch enough water for non-potable purposes (I'm in the northeast)? Would you recommend a second door? Do they regulate temperature well? How tough is it for a family to live in effectively one big room for a few weeks at a time? Any insights would be appreciated.
When you reach the fork in the road, take it ....
