... well I guess its fake I am not sure how it works in the US but over here you are not allowed to put stickers on goverment's weapons (I guess ) ... well how does it work over there? Couldthe guy loose the job if it is not a fake photo?

I guess that would depend on this chain of command in his department.
In the Army, you couldn't really do that, but you also didn't take your rifle home with you at the end of the day... cops take their weapons home.

It all depends on what state he works in. In most departments you are issued a duty weapon that you have to pay for. So it is your gun. I also know that even if you don't pay for it when issued when you retire if want to keep your duty weapon that you can pay for it and keep it. That is why you will older detectives with old revolvers, because they didn't want to pay for a Glock, Or Beretta....so essentially it is highly possible, that he is a legit deadhead cop...
