I know you think he was the best singer in the band, Koch, but that just proves you're insane. He sounds like Melissa Etheridge imitating Michael McDonald taking a shit.

For anyone who's about to stick up for the guy, I have one thing to say: "And then I heard the sound...of oonnne...chiiiiiild....kuh-ryyyyy-ihhnnn..."

I'm gonna go out on a limb here....not necessary sticking up for Koch, but if that is his take, I have to agree with him somewhat. Brent had such a unique singing voice. I loved how raspy his voice sounded. I loved listening to him and Jerry sing at the same time. As awesome as I think Keith was, I can't remember a time when I heard him sing....and Pig is in a category all his own

Not the greatest songwriter, but I love the sound of his voice. Great harmony singer and he rocked it on Pocky Way, Mr. Fantasy, Blow Away etc..also blended well with Phil's voice (which needed some help)

IMO singing is a matter of style: I love Brent, Pig, Dylan and ... Phil ...yes Phil!

each one of them [CENSORED] up a times but ... they do deliver emotions as opposed to a lots of beautiful clean, strong voices (the music market is full of them) which deliver no emotions to me!

I genuinely love it when Brent sings that line..and in general I thought Brent was a good vocalist AND songwriter.

That he may have, but when compared to the rest of the band, he still had the best voice.
Basically, he was the best out of a bunch of singers who weren't all that good.

Bobby has a good voice. If we didn't listen to him screeching at so many live shows, we wouldn't forget that. I think he has the "best" voice of all of them. He seems off-key the least too, at least on lead vocals.

Or Phil may have the best voice of all, at least back in the day, but he can't use it.

But of course Jerry is the one we want to hear sing.

Loved Brent's voice. Easily the best vocalist.

I do have to say....I loved it when brent would go off and sing. I absolutely loved it when him and Jerry would sing together. That raspy voice he had just brought such a unique sound to the band. Sorry...I have to agree with Koch on this one. IMHO Bruce was awesome....an asset to the band

I liked Brent's backing vocals much better in the early 80s when he was a little less raspy on backups, for some reason.

I agree with that, the raspiness was unnecessary...

Don't think he was doing it on purpose....booze and other form of self-medication probably "transformed" his vox, just like Jerry's habits made his voice more grainy/froggy/raspy over the years.
