The Lee and the Weiner sources listed above are identical except the Lee source I listed as "best source" also contains the complete NRPS set, a very fine set indeed.

Basically there are 2 audience sources, the Marty Weinberg recording and the more recently discovered "Usher Tapes" which are the Ken & Judy Lee recordings. The microphones were spread 20-25 feet across the balcony rail for a nicely balanced recording. The audience sounds do little to interfere with enjoying this recording, and in many cases the audience input is very amusing, like when someone with a duck call in the audience during Dark Star prompts Weir to say in an amused way "C'mon, this is serious" at which time Mickey attacks his gongs. You can hear people actually gasp and let out screams during the space that follows!
These recordings are part of what is now known as The Port Chester Resurrection Project, along with the 3/21/70 and 6/24/70 tapes from the same source.

The Marty Weinberg recording was made from the floor of the Capitol and also sounds quite good for the time. It has some cuts at the beginnings of songs where the tape recorder was shut off to preserve batteries. You can hear some annoying talking on these tapes although I have grown quite fond of the girl who says "Oh wow!" as the band ventures into Dark Star. It's just something in the way she conveys the sound of someone being mesmerized by the magic that is The Grateful Dead.
GET THIS SHOW! You won't be disappointed! Epic only begins to describe it.
