Before falling asleep I usually take my Ipod and listen to some GD music, which usually takesme 10 - 15 minuts to fall asleep.

So, 2 nights ago I had a strange experience, for I went directly to listen to Space 11/1/85 to see what is gonna happen as I was pretty tired ... am I going to stop it after 2 mins or fell asleep immediately? That I was courious to see ... a nice little experiment withmy own self I guess ...

The music started and I was immediately surrounded by guitar distorsions and some ostinato drumming (bam bam bam) the distorsions went on as the drums kept slowly to beat and beat. The first immage I saw was the immage from the 2001 Space Odissey the apeman hitting with the bones on the groud and the big black stone inforont of it ... then the gathering of the apes as the distorsions grew ...

The "dream" disappeared to some tunnel of bubbles and light as the mood changed with the fading of Bobby distorsions and some really weird Jerry guitar sounds.

This Space section says to me only 1 thing (again) get to Brent era and listen to as much Space /Drums sections as you can ... there is a treasure awaiting.

The next experiment will be to relisten to the very same space after lets say 30 days baut during day time ... I want to see if the overall feeling changes or not.

This are just some impressions not a review obviously .....

This was a good period for Space, which is kind of like the essence of Jerry to me... I don't understand people not liking space.
I will often skip drums, but very rarely do I skip space!

Space continued to be great in the 90s as well, especially in 1993 where the later portion of drums got pretty intense/stadium shaking.

I am a big fan of Space during Summer and Fall 1983.
Interesting, dark and often featured Garcia/Weir duets.
Also listen to Space from both 6/30/85 and 7/1/85. Crazy!!!

When I was in college I had this roommate who liked the Dead, and some guy on the same floor of my dormitory was a huge head, so my roommate bought a bunch of blanks and taped this other guy's whole collection of Dead, Phish, and Floyd shows, and he would set it up on the tape deck on the stereo to copy every night before we went to bed, and my dreams were really weird with that playing every night at a loud enough volume to here every night for months, it was a really weird feeling if I woke up in the middle of the night during drums or space or something after a night of partying too.

YES! 85 Space is good territory indeed. I think Mickey was kinda pushing things along in Space from 85 until the end. I really liked his xylophone sounds he used heavily in 85. I also love me a good, deep Beam Drone but I think he really started to wail on the Beam post 86 maybe.

I have always thought that it would be a good idea if they produced a few more Infrared Roses-like albums.

1983 - Spanish/Melodic dreamy Space
favorite: 10-31-83 Marin, with Airto
1984 - Xylophone Drumz into Journey-Thru-Hell Space
favorite: 05-08-84 Hult Center
1985 - Laser effect Star Wars Drumz/Space with bird noises, laughing sounds, etc.
favorite: 06-24-85 River Bend

Space then had a couple of down years in 86-87 but came back to life in 1988 and was strong the rest of the way, including as mentioned during the Vince Era.

11-1-85 (thread topic) nice lead-in by Bobby aka Mr. Space into Saint.
