I have seen a new addition to the GD shows at the LMA and, as it was a geate sounding mtx of an era that has bad SDbs circulating, I download it istantly.
I have listened to just some shows from the early eigthees so here is my second attempt to review this show. A minute ago I have finished a long review but everithing has been deleted beacouse when I wanted to make a preview I discovered that I have been somehow logged off Confused

d1t06 - Loser
d1t07 - C C Rider
d1t08 - It Must Have Been The Roses

Set 2:
d2t01 - Crowd/tuning
d2t02 - Scarlet Begonias >
d2t03 - Fire On The Mountain >
d2t04 - Estimated Prophet >
d2t05 - Eyes Of The World >
d3t01 - Drums >
d3t02 - Space >
d3t03 - Not Fade Away >
d3t04 - Wharf Rat >
d3t05 - Sugar Magnolia
Encore:
d3t06 - Don't Ease Me In

First set
d1t02 - Alabama Getaway >
d1t03 - The Promised Land
Jerry's voice and playing is cristally clear for the whole show, the start is fresh and clean ... a very refreshing listening and a cool stat of the day. it's the first time I listen to those songs combined and I love the uptempo start.
d1t04 - Friend Of The Devil
d1t05 - Cassidy
d1t06 - Loser
d1t07 - C C Rider
d1t08 - It Must Have Been The Roses
This bunch of songs are played almost perfectly but with no real risky by the band, in other words rock without exploration, which is a cool start up for the show. The feature here is an electric It Must Have Been The Roses where Jerry delivers the song singing it perfectly. the other electric versions I heared are from the 90s but this one is superior due to Jerry's voice here. No spectacular guitar licks here.
d1t09 - New Minglewood Blues
Here the feeling of the show changes as the drums started pumping ... as the song progresses you can hear Bobby voice rising in level. Here you got an announcement of what you had to see in 2nd set.

Second Set
d2t02 - Scarlet Begonias >
d2t03 - Fire On The Mountain >
d2t04 - Estimated Prophet >
I have seen a persian dancer dancing around me and takong off her clother piece by piece ... that must mean something!!!
I don't know if that is usual for a 81 show but the interesting point in that trio of songs is the strange direction of Jerry's solos, which are low/mellow/something like a dance of a cobra rising from the basket. During the transition from Scarlet to FoM you hear some low but beautiful Jerry solos letting Brent's organ to "rise" from the depths and melting together, soon you can hear Phli's solo comein in ina a sonic patchwork which I have enterd in. Mean while my persian dancer goes on and on. Then, after FoM is finshing you would expect a Bobby space cowboy tune to light up the show, but no!!! there the weird pace goes on with Estimated, so my dancer doesn't leave me. This pieace of music here really made my day, maybe the rest of the week ...
d2t05 - Eyes Of The World:
then a interesting intro with some fast crazy guitar work from Jerry, but the I heard a fast Eyes which I must admit I couldn't get .... my dancer had disappeared!!!Too faaaaast!!!!
d3t01 - Drums >
d3t02 - Space >
Notthing here ... let's say that the band was not inspired. I love the D/S section and I never skip them but here you don't find any consinstency.
d3t03 - Not Fade Away >
d3t04 - Wharf Rat >
d3t05 - Sugar Magnolia
Just when I thought that the main feature of the show was over ... NFA
perhaps my favourite version I have heard until today. It is not too long and not too short, but it is very sexy, slow and dark ... I still havent heard such a version. I know that the spring '77 versions are greate, but here is just a differebt take of that song. Wharf Rat: here Jerry delivers and excellent rendition of that song. As I said throughout the show jerry's voice is cristally clear. The final Jerry's solo are very interesting and differen.
d3t05 - Sugar Magnolia
Encore:
d3t06 - Don't Ease Me In
Those songs are a fine vay to say hello, but the band already delivered what they had to say with the mentioned songs in the second set.

I have seen the persina dancer dancing and stripping just form me at 09.00 AM, that must mean something ... that must mean something .... and no! I was clean Laughing

Wow. I would put this in my top 5 favorite Post-Drums Space jams, especially the second half.

Thanks for the entertaining review Very Happy
