As we all know, especially once the 2 set format became popular, the boys would come on for a single encore, with few surprises.
Listening to the Terrapin>OMSN, Werewolves encore (which is pretty damn awesome) inspired me to start this discussion. Name some 2 (or more) song encores that are memorable, or unusual, etc...
I'l start with a few I witnessed:

China>Rider>OMSN encore Frost 4/30/88. After a hit or miss show (Sissy boy Bobby was messing with his amp and pink guitar the whole time) they whipped this out to send everyone home that afternoon. Pretty neat.

9/3/88 OMSN>Ripple. A special encore after an OK show.

6/27/85 JB Goode>Baby Blue and
7/1/85 Satisfaction>Baby Blue. I dont know which one was better, but both featured powerful Baby Blues.

Other good ones:
Satisfaction>Brokedown 3/10/81
JB Goode>WBYGN Boston 4/2/73..

The only two double encores I saw GD do were:

12-31-90 The Weight>Johnny B. Goode

and

5-19-92 Baba O'Riley>Tomorrow Never Knows (first time played, really cool!).

I generally like the Baba>Tomorrow

The early 80s had a lot of doubles that rocked, often featuring "Satisfaction"... can't recall exact dates.

Indeed, but it was 26th, I know that was just a typo...
That may be the best encore ever...

12/31/84: Gimme Some Lovin' > Uncle John's Band > Around And Around > It's All Over Now, Baby Blue

Lame third set? Incredible encore? You decide.

New Years shows were a pretty good source of mega-encores, sometimes masquerading as a third set.

12/31/78: Casey Jones > Johnny B. Goode; And We Bid You Good Night

12/31/83: Big Boss Man > Iko Iko; In The Midnight Hour; Goodnight Irene

12/31/86: Gimme Some Lovin' > When Push Comes To Shove; Box Of Rain; In The Midnight Hour > Brokedown Palace

12/31/87: Man Smart (Woman Smarter); Iko Iko; Banana Boat Song > Do You Wanna Dance? > Knockin' On Heaven's Door

12/31/88: Wharf Rat > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > One More Saturday Night

12/31/89: Brokedown Palace ~ Sunshine Daydream; In The Midnight Hour

5/12/79 - Shakedown> OMSN

Although it's as standard as can be, really dig OMNS, US Blues from 6/9/99 - wonderful rockin' Jerry guitar work.

^^^ That one was a big fake out. After Brokedown>SSDD they left the stage. Evryone hollered for a few minutes and them the house lights came on. A lot of folks had started to leave then a few seconds after the house light went on, they went off again and they hit Midnight Hour.

I relistened to this show after not listening to it for a long time and am so glad I did. At least for the time being, this is my favorite encoure because of the Eyes>stella, two songs that I love. These versions are very good. The Dark Star>Dew also is excellent with a MLB jam that is solid and the Sugar mags closer is very good.

Apparently this is the first show to feature the MLB Jam as well... it is an awesome show all around.

12/9/81 - US Blues-Satisfaction

8/10/82 - Baby Blue-JBG
I LOVE this one. Powerful, mournful Baby Blue and a rollicking JBG. When I die, they are gonna play this at my funeral. Be sad and retrospective for a few minutes, then PARTY ON!
