Right now Im listening to the fast and the furious sound track since thats what Im watching.

Otherwise the music Ive been listening to is Technologique - Orbital, and
Rammstein - Feuer Frei and some Linkin Park and System of a Down.

4/22/77 Killer Dancin' & mellow precision thoughout. A little out of tune by Terrapin.

^ Love the Scarlet>Fire from that show, was first one I ever 'remembered'

Listened to the remaster of 6/8/77 today at work - sound upgrade was excellent.
Was never a huge fan of this show, but I was really feeling the vibe of the whole show today, it's amazing how loose and slow (in an awesome way) they were on this night, and then the following day at 6/9 suddenly it's balls to the wall!

Hoping my boss plays 6/9/77 tomorrow at work, it's been awhile and would love to hear the upgrade!

Ramones, Subterranean Jungle. Underrated album with, admittedly, questionable production decisions. The 80s left no-one completely unscarred--witness Go To Heaven. Now I'm talking about the Grateful Dead, subject of this message board. I am replying to all the threads that I posted to that others post to and I get an email saying so. But I haven't listened to any GD in a good spell. Maybe this summer I'll get them back on the box. I get obsessed with one thing at a time, generally, and right now it's the Ramones.

It's from 1992 and there's Box of Rain and Saint of Circ before drums, plus Crazy FIngers which isn't always the most together song, as great as it is...is there really a little yellow guy peeking over his glasses? Or did you have a couple too many beers before cranking that one up?

Thanks Ramones guy for disparaging his choice of shows Rolling Eyes I can't vouch for 5/20/92 as I've never heard it - but I really enjoy 5/24 from Shoreline, and think I will dust it off for a fresh listen soon. There is some good stuff to be found in May/June 1992. Vince was finally free of the Bruce ball and chain.

Well, this is a Grateful Dead discussion board...if we all agreed there wouldn't be much to talk about.

However, I do confess I haven't heard the show...on the other hand, I expressed skepticism, not out and out disbelief.

I was at the Cal Expo shows as well as the Shoreline shows. Somebody told me Cal Expo was when they first started using ear monitors. Is there a way to find out if it's true?

If those are sub par, I'd love to see much better! That whole fall tour is pretty hot IMHO.

Maybe the sound was crappy, or maybe it was said they were already over-exposed--but did people really say they sucked?

Those releases are disgraceful by the way---if Charlie Miller can do pitch correction, why can't Rhino?

By "those releases" I don't mean specifically Hampton, which i can't remember if there's any problems with. apparently the latest one has pitch problems, though, and that puts it on a long list...

I didn't do DP1 (12/19/73), but I did transfer Rob Eaton's Dats that Dick Latvala gave him (from the vault master reels). I also did the same for DP4 (2/13/70 and 2/14/70). And 4/26/69 - 4/27/69.

The other Dick's Picks I remastered are:
10/14/83
11/8/69
11/1/85

The download series remasters (pitch corrections) are:
6/18/76 (I circulated the missing Ten Jed)
9/3/80
9/4/80

Road Trips Remasters:
2/14/68 (circulated from vault reels, remastered my own version before release)
5/15/70 (Pitch corrected and patched)
5/23/69 (I think I just put these in order)
5/24/69 (I think I just put these in order)
11/5/79 (Pitch corrected)
11/6/79 (Pitch corrected)
5/6/80 (Pitch corrected and patched)
5/7/80 (Pitch corrected and patched)

Someone else gave me a pitch corrected 12/31/76 so I didn't need to do that one.

That is a nice S/F, but what happened to the boys after Fire on the Mountain? Smarter-Gone-Drumz-Space-ThrowinStones-NFA? Ouch...like they gave up on the show just as it was gettin hot. Confused Question Exclamation

10/10/82. Cool The version I'm listening to says AUD, but I'm not so sure. If it is it's a top fiver for sure. The 2nd set is one for the ages! First set not to shabby either. Garcia still in good voice. Love Loser and Crazy Fingers.

Must not forget to thank arm for the avavtar I'm using. I shamelessly stole it some time ago. Oh, and I'm listening to 6/10/90 from Cal-Expo. Nice little run of shows. Think it's 6/8,9 and 10 Cool I believe swami is a strong proponent of 6/8.

Actually no can't say that I am - in fact I think 6/8 was probably the weakest of the three nights. 9th and 10th are both good - would probably give a slight nod to the 9th as my favorite of the three.

Another crazy night from the boys in 80. On another source there is a lady yelling the rules of the venue, I wonder who that is.

4/26/69 Electric Theater. I just got a full copy of this show and it's an absolute beast, even by '69 standards. Prepare for your mind to be thoroughly blown!

7/4/81 had the whale calls, but 4/14/82 has the seagull calls.

A Point of Lighter!

EDIT: Homerun!
Drummers are all over this show, pushing the tempo the entire time.
Serious power in China Doll, not a song I'm necessarily keen on.

Victim is great considering it was in its early days, before it went full power chord/gain effect.

Great show, all the way through, the reason the Point of Lights is such a great idea is...
You won't find any stinkers on this list. It will be the pleasing even if one of your favorites didn't make the list!

Not on the P.O.L. list yet but I'm sure it will be! From The Starlight Theatre a majestic aud. from 8/3/82. One of the best Peggy O's ever. Cumberland is damn near perfect. I'm deep into the first set and not a weak spot yet. Althea just came up. I have had this show for awhile but haven't listened to it in ages. Great way to start the day. Cool Forgot to mention they open with 1/2 step>Franklins Surprised Fuckin'Ay!!!!

Oh the randomness of it all.
I put my hand into a box that has most of my burns of 80s shows and came up with 10/18/83. I'm quite sure this will make the P.O.L. list. The opening Jack Straw is like a shot of double espresso! A great TLEO and the unbeatable pairing of Mamu>Mexicali. Now listening to Duprees. BTW Koch Duprees is a real fun tune to play on guitar. Pretty easy one too. Digging the Eaton aud.

11/21/85 also features a Walking the Dog I believe...
I was disappointed it didn't make the PoL.

Listened to 4/23/88 tonight, definitely a good show, wicked PITB, Bucket, and the post-space is SOLID!

I believe you might be referring to "Thankful for 1984," which was a compilation CD I made with select '84 cuts. I think that the Walkin The Dog was song #1 if memory serves. Really glad you enjoyed the 2nd Set!

Really dig this show. Definitely in the mood for it today. Awesome Brent work and pretty kick-ass 2nd Set.

8/3/82. I discovered this show before the PoL project began. It was one of those days where I was sick of asking for a recommendation, sick of "Golden Era", sick of "...Wait a minute!..." I wanted a Brent show. I didn't care what year but I did not want to hear Mr.Jude Fantasy. So I'm at archive, type in 1982 and picked the first show that looked like something I would dig and it was this one. The first set is one of the best and well played dare I say ever!? Garcia is in the zone and the boys are with him. I don't give a fuck. The Grateful Dead was HIS band! I'm listening to Peggy-O right now; lovely. Dig the opening 1/2 step>Franklins. El-Paso now. Again Garcia 's playing behind Weir is brilliant...Cumberland just came exploding out of El Paso. Gotta go!

I haven't been able to get in as much listening recently, crushed by work/school.

I look forward to some GD enjoyment with my man Swami when he is in town tonight though!

One of my favs too. 7 huge songs prior to drums in set 2...2 songs after drums. If my memory serves me correctly that statistic wasn't repeated again until 9-15-85. Good pick!

Yes, and I think that was purely accidental in Chula Vista!
