I snuck into the rear of the venue and enjoyed this concert perched on a rocky outcropping with my girlfriend. Only bad part was when we started hiking back down (1 mile or so..) through the high desert scrub in the dark in an altered state and emerged into the parking lot with my legs a bloody mess from cactus spurs. Laughing Great show though!
Listening to some Norman Blake right now - Blackberry Blossom. The voices in my head are gone for now...

Finishing up 8/4/89 Cal Expo. Baby Blue encore is playing. Satisfying show - 11 song first set, interesting and well played selection pre drums. It kind of flags a little post drums as Jerry starts messing too much with the midi, affecting Stella and the SSDD jam. Overall a thumbs up.

It certainly is a catchy tune... this happens to me a lot too...
"1940 Xmas Eve..." then I jump back and forth through the song... it does get old.

You know how to get it out of your head? Get something else stuck in it...

You got it right.
BTW there is a big fest this summer at Oxford Plains Speedway - Furthur and many other bands are playing - I think it is July 4.

Yes, great show all around really. The Little Light unfortunately stops before it can get great... like it almost always did, seems like they needed to just let the jam segment gather a few more rounds of steam.

I agree - sort of like how Blow Away started as a 6 minute tune then turned into a monster. Little Light had some jam potential.

I myself am listening to George Jones - Flowers For Momma..

I have herad a lot of 1987 concerts, so now I have changed pace for ...
03/01/69 Fillmore West

I like the "sound" of this period, but have never been deeply into it! So 1 concerta of that era a week ... I have a lot of studies to do!

Thanks ... I'll check it out. I think it is better my way ... you know I discover something (perhaps a minor show) which I like ... and then BUM you show me better shows and the pleasure to listen is even higher !!!!!!!

In one of your posts Duderino I read about the 1989 Alpine Shows ... I downloaded them a and they are now in my car (all 3 of them) + the Unreleased Brent Album. Its 2 week now I am just on that shows.

Now I listen to PITB from the 12/31/72 show

4/17/84 Eyes. Kinda funny how during Jerry's first solo, he starts running into some trouble and tripping over himself, then starts punching out the chords, pushing up the tempo. By the second verse they're cruising at a noticeably faster speed.

Which brings me to the question... when did the tempo changes in Eyes take place?
That would be an interesting research project.

Between 10/20/74 and 8/13/75...Then 6/9/76 which is also quicker than 8/13/75 like 8/13/75 is quicker than 10/20/74...I was gonna start a thread but, the change seems so obvious to me I did not think it needed one...

EDIT: Im startin one now...Eyes Deserves it...

Love that show. Sure there is no real "jam" in this show, but as duck sez "it crackles" Good ole Grateful Dead.

I'm cooking dinner and my 3-year old son is painting. The second set of 9/26/72 had been going just fine until, in the middle of the deep space Other One jam, my son stops painting, solemnly looks at me, and says:

Daddy, this music doesn't make any sense.

So we jumped a few minutes to Baby Blue everything's just fine now Smile

Martin Fierro on sax. I think there are other horns as well. Doesn't work IMO. Sax sounds more intrusive than anything else. Maybe because he is so high in the mix.

I love that one D&D.
