****************Preface*************************************

Apparently only an AUD is available - it is of decent quality sound. Mainly I will review the meat of the show here: the pre-Drumz 2nd Set, although the entire show is enjoyable to some degree.

****************Set 1****************************************

Doodle was a nice alternative to Greatest Story following a standard Touch opener. Jack-A-Roe and All Over Now featured some prime Hornsby soloing, especially the latter. Jimmy slowed things down a bit, but Picasso Moon to the rescue. A worthy jam ending Deal capped off a pretty good set.

****************Set 2****************************************

Eyes opened at a relaxed pace, but the dynamic dreamy dualing duo on the keys - Brucerino and Vinn-a-rama - filled in the open spaces left by Jerry with nice texturing. Bobby reverted to his 1991-style trombone MIDI sound as the jam opened up. At around 13:30 a very nice transition into the new tune, Corrina.

Bruce wisely switches over to everyone's favorite instrument, the accordian - giving Vin Dub room to lay down his choppy modern-Dead synth lines. Very sweet, melodic jam developing between Jerry, Vince, and Bruce at around 8:30 into Corrina...leading into...?

A minute of very slow space...and then? and then? Phil lays down a bassline, the drummers follow suit, and Jerry's noodles served on a plate could only mean one thing: Playin Reprise! Very interesting stuff, with Bruce still on accordian.

After the lyrics Bruce returned to the piano and hints of the UJB into can be heard. Vince unexpectedly busts out the sax (a-la in the Estimated jam) resulting in a unique passage of music - taking it's time to get to the opening chords of John's Band. Finally Jerry obliges, and some of the Philly crowd seemed to forgive the boys for having played Corinna twice during the run.

Fairly boring version until Jerry busted out the "turtle" guitar sound for the minor-key pre-reprise jam segment. As for the final jam, they kind of sort of return to the Playin theme - but after a couple minutes the guitars vanish and it's a Bruce showcase (with Vinny, Phil, and drums). Actually some nice Lesh in there behind Bruce's fast, repetitive piano notes.

Space is dull, and other than a personal affinity for the Wave-Wharf-Throwin song choices, nothing particularly caught my ear. NFA is NFA and Brokedown is Brokedown.

****************Summary************************************

Average Show + Bad Tour = Below-average show I'm afraid.

Performance: Not bad but lacking in energy. C.

Sound Qual: Run-of-the-mill AUD. C.

Highlights:

- All Over Now
- Deal
- Corinna-PlayinReprise-UJB
