Just testing a theory here... and the theory is not to beat a dead horse to death.

I watched it a few times when it first started - the early shows when they had the people who couldn't sing or were just bizarre (William Hung) were pretty funny from a human freakshow standpoint but it shows off the worst, schlocky type of pop music. I'm surprised its still popular.

I have never watched this show really, I do work second shift though, and don't ever watch anything prime time, unless someone dvrs it for me (I did catch the Family Guy pot episode last night, that was pretty rich, someone taped it for me,) but one of my coworkers is a total redneck cracker, but he won't miss an episode of this, he dvrs it religiously and talks about it seriously, I get a big kick out of that, the redneck/American Idol connection.

Yeah I TIVO that and Dancing with the Stars; wouldn't want to miss that high quality entertainment!

NOT!

I can hardly stand seeing the commercials and realizing that a market for this actually exists. Apparently a huge market. WTF is wrong with this world? Where did we go wrong?

ACK!!!

My lady and her mom are big fans...........I AM NOT!!!

American Idol is liken to receiving a bad Order from Regimental Command.........oh wait...............that would be the same Regimental Command that told Custer "One more Last Stand..... and you can go home!!!" Razz

I picked watched it a few times cause, if the girlfriend wants to watch the show, I can't fight to hard. Plus then when I want to put on a View From The Vault or Grateful Dawg, she cant complain. Its a win in the end.

I don't think "win win" is appropriate here, unless you enjoy the Idol and she enjoys the Vault...

I admitted to a few times, the Ms. enjoys it when she gets home from work.
However, American Idle is a comercial fudgepack of a hodgepoge of banality.
Makes me shake my head, what passes for entertainment.
That said, I do agree with the Dude, some of those initial people, who think that they can sing, do present with surprising comedy value.

It's win when there are plenty of people to laugh at. It's a lose when it gets to the episodes where the people are "talented". Better then her other favorite show, "say yes to the dress" Evil or Very Mad

She enjoys Grateful Dawg, but usually gets board with View From The Vault. She liked some of volume one, but two and three she had no interest in.

My sentiments exactly, and it goes for (un)reality TV as well...
