I'm listening to the Cryptical Reprise right now. Man, this show is what 69 was all about. The Duprees is excellent and the Mountains>DS transition is sick, with Jerry jamming out uber Darkstar licks on the acoustic. Show is notable for the split Eleven - they do the Willian Tell bridge then shoot right into Lovelight.
I havent gotten to the meat of the Eleven yet, but just got my mind blown by a primal Other One. This is what the Duder needed after too much 70's and 80's Dead and an interlude of indie-pop...

Dupree's Diamond Blues [3:51] > Mountains Of The Moon [3:48] > Jam [2:14] > Dark Star [17:32] > St. Stephen [5:40] > The Eleven 1st vocals [1:11] > Turn On Your Love Light [17:23] ; [0:24] %

Hard To Handle [#5:52] > [0:08] Cosmic Charlie [7:44] ; [0:13] ; China Cat Sunflower [3:26] > Jam [2:20] > Doin' That Rag [7:41] ; Cryptical Envelopment [2:03] > Drums [0:25] > The Other One [9:30] > Cryptical Envelopment [5:#58] > The Eleven [9:07] > It's A Sin [4:57] ; [1:12] ; Alligator [3:52] > Drums [3:52] > drummers' chant [0:15] > Drums [0:12] > Feedback [8:12] > And We Bid You Good Night [3:07] ; [0:10] %

Comments Jerry plays acoustic guitar during Dupree's and Mountains, switching to electric just short of 2 minutes into the following Jam.

Shocked Holy [CENSORED] Exclamation You got me Dude. I will be listening tonite! Thanks for the turn on. I'm sorry I did not see them in this era. I had tickets to see them at Gaelic Park in the Bronx in the summer of 69 but for some reason I passed. What an idiot.

Thanks for posting this one up too, wow, don't know how I missed this one up until now. Looks pretty righteous to me, will be listening to this one and Essen 90 which I will be reviewing soon.

Amazing show. One of my favorites for sure. There aren't many high quality versions of MOTM out there, and this one is close to perfect. How nice would this have sounded in 93 with Garcia's new clear-channel sound? Maybe pair it up with something new like Days Between? Now that would have worked!

EDIT: forget what i said about noise in MOTM. something was wrong with my PC and it's fine again after a restart.

When I listened to this one the first time after hitting this review up, I thought they cut the Eleven, but William Tell-Lovelight?
First set is one for the ages, sick lineup and execution, Mountains of the Moon is such a great song, I don't know why they ever dropped it from the lineup.

I like this show too, but the Hard To Handle and Cosmic Charlie that open Set II are pretty awful. It's almost hard to believe they came after that great Set I.

i think they just messed with the tempo way too much. It was decent as a fast number. But i think it was cruddy when they slowed it down to a funerals pace. But any ways Both of the avalon runs of this year are awesome!

Just listening to the show.
It is very raw and hot! The transition from Mountains to DarkStar is really weird, never herad that in an official issue!
Today I also finished DLing the whole 1969 .... so I am working and having a private party with myself listening to this show!
Thans for the recommandation.

China Cat Sunflower > Jam ............... its almost a punk version!

definetly I have to get more seriously in the 69 era!

totally love that show... even with the incredibly rough hard to handle...it is painful to listen to, yet i never skip it for some odd self-flagellation reason

Another cool thing about this show - The Flying Burrito Brothers opened up.
I am pretty sure the tape of their set circulates and actually was released on CD a few years back. Man that must have been a helluva night.
